Pros: As a router / AP, it appears to work fine.
Cons: I had high hopes for this router. I have a main router, the RT-AC66U. My plan was to use the RT-N56U as a wireless repeater. I've gone through the support pages, forums, etc... and spent the time to type up my configuration (on both routers) and get ASUS tech support to help out. It's been over a week since I first contacted tech support, and I'm no closer to an answer. The only suggestion they had was to use the AC66U as the repeater. This solution doesn't work well for me, and the N56U is advertised to work as a repeater. Although it misses the mark on having this functionality as an optional 'mode'. I'm really disappointed. Nearly $300 on both routers and tech support has been worthless.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Great user interface. Easy to configure. Lots of features.
Cons: I found two things very disappointing. (1) Asus knew about the security hole in their default settings for FTP long before they released a fix for it. (2) My wifi devices connected to this router constantly experiences disconnects and page cannot load messages. I got an RMA, sent it back to ASUS and got it back with the same issues. Couldn't even stream Netflix due to the disconnects. I swap it out for another router and everything works fine again.
Other Thoughts: I love ASUS motherboards, but this router is very disappointing. Reading various reviews, wireless stability seems a big issue with this and the other ASUS routers that are being made (66U, 68U, 87U).READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: I love(d) this router.
Cons: 1 - Asus knew about the compromised security a year before they fixed it.
2 - Mine died after 5 months. I've tried for days to reach tech support. Their web forms don't work, and I can't reach anyone by phone.
Other Thoughts: I used to be a fan of Asus products. Now, having seen how difficult it is to get support, I'm done with Asus. Their website forms are horrible (for example, AJAX doesn't work on the drop downs, you have to submit an incomplete form to get the drop downs to fill in so that you can complete the form).... then, after you filled it all in and hit submit, you are sent right back to the form with no indication as to what information is missing or is somehow incorrect. All I need is an RMA # and ship to address!READ FULL REVIEW
