This review is from: HP Scanjet G4050 (L1957A#B1H) Up to 4800 x 9600 dpi USB Flatbed Scanner
Pros: Can scan 16 slides at once, dust removal works very well
Cons: Hp software is very very bad, you need to buy VueScan pro software ($70.00 life time licence - will work on many scanners without additional licence) to make it work properly.
Will not work above 2400 dip - but this is all you need
Other Thoughts: Can scan a tray of 36 mm slides in about 5 hours. Actual scan with dust removal takes about 90 minutes. Just load machine walk away and come back later to reload. I am also doing my 110 mm Kodak slides without a problem. I made a 110 mm mount for the slides from old 35mm slides (cut the center out of the slide to mount the 110 slide and then did the scanning - works perfectly and very nice pictures at 2400 dpi)READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Faster than my Vertex 2 in both feel and Win7 scores. Very nice C drive transfer setup program with an included USB cable.
Cons: First crashed after 4 days. Needed to reimage. Then again crashed after 2 more days with error 'can not write to sector 0" - be sure to make backup images of these drives - the crash is very sudden and final.
Returned for replacement cost $10.00 but were out of stock and just got my money back.
Other Thoughts: I will wait till later this summer and take a look at the market again. Need a minimum of 60gig to make a good C drive. Even then need to install most programs on the D drive.
Seems many old style rotating drives fail also, so failing problem is not unique to SSDs
Pros: Was Easy to install. Formatted the drive with Win 7 Disk Management and then 'recovered' my Acronis True Image backup of my HD to this SSD. On my first boot to the SSD I then booted to the Win 7 Install DVD went into 'Repair Mode' to created to new boot sector for the SSD. The repair took about 1 second. Did a final boot to the SSD and it came up perfect. Used all Win 7 standard setup which is special for SSD. My new SSD drive seems to gain speed the more I use it.
Cons: Ordered on Monday at 8:30 am ET arrived 4:30 Friday ET. Went all over the SE according to tracking from UPS. Package was shipped from 'RMA office' but was a new unopened package. Down 1 Egg for shipping
Other Thoughts: Drive is physically very small, be sure you have some way to mount it in your case. I was able to get my C boot drive small enough to use this 30gig drive by putting almost all my program installs on the D drive. Also used a program 'WinDirStat' to clean out all the junk from the C drive. YOU will be amazed at all the redundant useless stuff that accumulates in the C drive.
Computer boots and comes out of sleep very fast. Win 7 now rates my drive as fast as my system memory.
