Pros: They seem to die within the initial warranty period...so I guess that could be considered a good thing???
Cons: This is a follow-up to my previous review 6-11-2014; all 3 of these drives have died on me now...
100% failure rate...3 out of 3 dead after just over a year...
Other Thoughts: Seems Seagate has switched to a 1YR warranty, probably because they were replacing too many under the 2YR warranty...which was previously a 3YR warranty just a few years ago...
Also, I could not find ANY warranty statement on Seagate's site. The only thing I found was a statement "Check product packaging for warranty info"...so apparently they expect you to purchase first and then find out it only has a 1YR warranty...pretty slick...also OEM drives ship in a plain ESD bag, so...WHAT PRODUCT PACKAGING???
Pros: Ummmm...well they are pretty fast UNTIL THEY FAIL...
Cons: Bought of these in March 2013...2 have now failed, I'm just waiting for the 3rd one to go...hopefully it dies within warranty at least...
Other Thoughts: Google search: st3000dm001 problem
...and you will quickly realize this drive has MANY issues
DO NOT trust these for anything important, and make sure you have backups(which is always a good practice anyways)
This review is from: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials 64B 1-2CPU
Pros: Perfect for home or small office usage, and IMO the price isn't terrible considering it includes CALs for 25 users/50 devices.
Really loving the centralized client backup feature. works great, and it utilizes data de-duplication to maximize storage efficiency.
My other favorite Server 2012 feature is NIC Teaming/LBFO. Super easy to set up, especially 'switch independent' mode. Basically just run thru the wizard and plug in your LAN cables.
Essentials also includes all the 'standard' features such as AD, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, etc etc.
Cons: I wish it came with 2 VM licenses
Other Thoughts: 2012 R2 Essentials license DOES include virtualization rights. You get (1) Physical and (1) Virtual instance. In this configuration, the Physical instance can ONLY run the Hyper-V role, you must remove all other roles to be in compliance.READ FULL REVIEW
