Adaptec RAID 6805 2271200-R 6Gb/s SATA/SAS 8 internal ports w/ 512MB cache memory Controller Card Includes AFM 600 Flash Module Kit 2269700-R

Pros: Excellent, though older technology but at a great price for a refurbished (clean pull) price.
Clean board with all parts as described. All solid state, no fan to fail. Great RAID performance for the price for workstations and small-scale server systems. And works well with external storage boxes with SAS expanders (I have two from different vendors, no problems).

Cons: First card arrived DOA (one of the CN0 LED's wouldn't light, board wouldn't post (red LEDS remained off, and board became very hot).
However, I filed an RMA through Newegg Marketplace, and Chris from TheServerStore respond immediately to say he is shipping out a replacement board right away. Replacement board is working perfectly.

Other Thoughts: I would have been more skeptical in this review had it not been for the excellent / fast customer service demonstrated by TheServerStore. With "used" but cleaned up boards, you run a greater risk of getting a DOA, but the seller made this easy to swallow.

Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Series PH-ES614L_BK Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Solid case at a reasonable cost that is big enough for SSI EEB server boards.
Well organized for out-of-the-way wire management, and a nice use of LED lighting.

Cons: While it accepts SSI EEB format boards, there was a standoff hole missing (forward edge of the board) to mount my Intel server board.
The button for changing the LED colors is too close and too similar to the system reset button.
For the cost, I'd expect more sturdy hard-drive trays.
Given that the left side includes a large viewing window into the case, it should have come equipped with an LED lighting strip built into the case (not a $20 accessory).

Intel 530 Series SSDSC2BW240A4K5 2.5

Pros: Regarded as one of the most reliable SSD's available. Comes in a well equipped package for a reasonable price.

Cons: Its Intel - I expected it to work out of the box. Yet, I spent countless hours troubleshooting a new server build due to the firmware that came on this SSD - the latest firmware for this SSD (DC32). When configuring SATA as AHCI in the Intel serer board bios, the board would not finish the bios posting process with this SSD connected. Intel tech support helped me narrow it down to the SSD, though there was no reason it should not have worked. As it turned out, I had the exact same model SSD on a shelf that was build 1 year earlier and had the older DC12 firmware - that SSD worked just fine in my server build. Intel agrees that there is a compatibility issue between the latest DC32 firmware on this Intel SSD and with my Intel server board. Not something I would ever have expected from this premium brand. And certainly not appreciated in terms of all the time wasted trying to figure this out.

Other Thoughts: I do appreciate that Intel has been responsive, though they have heavily depended on me, the user, for troubleshooting a compatibility issue between two of their own products. I still have not received a viable solution (other than to use the older SSD), even though I was willing to accept a simple flash download to bring the new unit back to DC12 firmware.
