This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-Z97-D3H LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: Great bios, usb 3.0, overclocks well, made for easy and trouble free build. Will reboot into good settings after failed overclock.
Cons: Some of the overclocking presets are for i5/i7 and specific RAM sku(s). These profiles could be expanded to include just a general profile for both other RAM and cpu.
Other Thoughts: Took G3258 to 4.4 with the stock hs/fan at 1.28v and my low voltage RAM ( N82E16820148656 ) from XMP 8-8-8-24 @1600 up to 9-9-9-27 @2133 1.5v. All stable, primed, etc. runs circles around my q6600 overclocked to 3.2 with 8gb of Ballistix. This is even before the overclock. The board will allow for an upgrade when and if I decide to do so. This board with the above parts and GTX750 Ti is one of the best low budget high potency setups.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Get a good mobo and you will be able to overclock the hell out of these. Low cost, Low volt, highly tweakable.
easiest build I have ever done.
Cons: No so far after burn-in.
Other Thoughts: GigaByte Z97-D3H v1.1 F8 Bios
G3258 @4.3 1.2v
Was waiting to pull trigger on a new machine and noticed that most people having trouble with OCing RAM have an inexpensive mobo in general. I spent a little extra money and this has allowed me to get great results with the RAM and CPU. Here is what I have done with this RAM:
8-8-8-24 2T 1600 1.35v
9-9-9-27 2T 2133 1.5v
7-7-7-21 2T 1600 1.5v
All stable using multiple bench and burn-in suites.
I liked the 7-7-7-21 with the processor @4.3 with 1.2v
