Pros: The installation was very easy. Takes the same amount of time as if you were plugging in two lamps into a wall socket as an example. Then take one LAN cable and connect it from your wireless router/access point into the first powerline adapter you just plugged in, then run to the other room where you plugged in the other powerline adapter and connect the second LAN cable between your laptop/desktop and the powerline adapter. Make sure your laptop/desktop LAN wired adapter connection is enabled and you will be up and running almost instantaneously. I was skeptical about the powerline adapter's ability to deliver a good clean signal through the home's electrical wiring, but here are the results using speedtest: BEFORE: 6.6 MBPs Down/3.4 Up -- AFTER: 31 MBPs Down/4.2 Up. That is five times faster on the download side.
Other Thoughts: I'd definitely buy this again and recommend it to my friends. I'll be talking about it at the office.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Great signal and coverage. Signal and connection seems more clean. Nice looking router. GUI is easy to navigate.
Cons: Replaced my Linksys e4200 with this. Got it setup "fairly" easily Friday night. Happy with the purchase. Wake up Saturday morning and no internet, but am able to wirelessly log in to the Asus admin console (browser 192.168.1.1). LAN but no WAN. Reboot...nothing. Reset...nothing. Called Asus support and after 30 minutes or so, tech tells me his recommendation is to take it back and swap it out for another one, go to the Asus AC66 model or get money back. We hang up and I continue to fiddle with it. I perform a factory reset and everything starts to fire again. Fast forward to Monday morning...internet connection is down again, but I can still log in to the admin console. I have now connected my e4200 back up again and am attempting to make sure that it isn't my ISP or my cable modem and will watch to make sure my e4200 doesn't start to magically drop also. I never had problems with my e4200 in the past. I just wanted to upgrade to the latest and greatest.
Other Thoughts: I have noticed that the DHCP setting in the Asus admin console has a field indicating the Lease Expiration time frame and it has been reading "Expired" and a block below this shows "Renewing", but it never renews. I'm thinking this is related to me losing my internet connection, but why it won't renew after a few milliseconds is unknown to me. I've also noticed that the product box says it is a "RT-AC68U" but in the admin console it shows "RT-AC68R." This is confusing. The Asus support person said this is only a matter of different vendors... ??? If my current e4200 stays connected to the internet for the rest of this week without any issues similar to the Asus router, I will return my Asus router and opt for the new Linksys AC model.READ FULL REVIEW
