Pros: Great range and speed , been running with no problems for 3 months . Even my N clients benefit , N clients gain in transfer speeds if transferring large files at least 4 MBPS gain . Super stable with latest Merlin FW goes months with no need for reboot .
Forget smart connect , best set up clients to the radio of your choice .
Capable of setting up many guest network ssids for all those gadgets you don't want sharing your lan .
Built in protection a plus if you trust it , easily turned off if you don't
Cons: Not many cons , key rotation should be set at zero instead of 3600 , if you leave it at 3600 your wireless clients will drop for a couple of seconds every hour , set to zero no wireless drops ,
Update , this has been fixed , works perfectly with key rottation set at 3600 or every hour
Other Thoughts: Expensive , but worth it , as of Jan 2016 very stable , everything works . One of the best AC 3200 ROUTERS OUT THEREREAD FULL REVIEW
Pros: My tuner had the fan turn off , Silicondust sent an RMA and shipping label within hours of me sending email , They sent a replacement tuner the day I brought te defective tuner to the UPS store for shipping . Now that is service , THANK YOU !
Nice to deal with people that stand behind their products .
And the tuner outperforms all my TV tuners , great reception .
Cons: None really , sometimes defective products get through , or they were damaged in shipping
Other Thoughts: Nice to see a company trust the consumer and send out a replacement before they get the defective unit back , without asking for a credit card or other surety .
Thank you Silicondust , you have a great product and service .
Pros: When it works , it works well . Unfortunately the fan cooling the fan would shut down at random shutting down the tuner. Silicondust was quick to find the fault and emailed shipping label and RMA number within hours of my email to them stating the problem . I've been using there older versions for years never had a problem , nice to see they are quick to resolve a problem . Tuner gets betTer reception than any of the tuners built into my TVs
Cons: The fact the fan would shut off and shut down unit , defective fan controller ? So half a con point because they are quick to correct the problem
Other Thoughts: Seems as soon as a fan is introduced on any product failure rates go up , I always replace OEM fans with high quality fans for that reason , No idea on fan used by silicondust , but it did have a rattle type noise when it ran . Best if the chip runs cool without fan , less chance of failure.
A good buy , at least they are quick to fix the problem and the tuners get very good reception , better than my TVs
