4 out of 5 eggs Said $10 Rebate, Got $5 Reabte 05/03/2014

This review is from: EVGA 512-A8-N403-LR GeForce 6200 512MB 64-Bit GDDR2 AGP 8X Video Card

Pros: The card is fine for an AGP card, meaning 10yo technology. I'm knocking one egg off because when I bought it a month ago it said $10 rebate but when I went to the web site to register it was down to $5, which isn't even worth my time to dink around with all the paperwork.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Beware the bait and switch, which is really beneath Newegg considering all the business I've sent your way.

IR to RF to IR Remote Control Range Extender Kit, 433 MHz
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: The guy that came up with this idea deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for Home Electronics (a new category.) The idea is simple but this things works! The sensor replaces a battery in your IR remote and picks up the slight emanations your remote makes when you press a button and converts them to radio frequencies that can be transmitted through walls and floors to the "flying saucer" thing, which converts them back to IR commands. I've used my remote even from outside so it's probably good for at least 100ft but I haven't tried it from any further.

Cons: I've had this thing for 5 years and it's still going strong. OK, the flying saucer is a little hokey looking (a cube maybe? or a pyramid (hint, hint.))

ThinkPad Laptop T Series T410 Intel Core i5 2.40GHz 4GB Memory 250GB HDD 14.1

Pros: Solid. The hinges are solid aluminum blocks with no slop. Great tactile on the keyboard. Overhead light for seeing keyboard in the dark. This is a business unit so it has all sorts of display options. (Note: DisplayPort D++ NOT HDMI) Came DOA but that was FedEx's fault--looked like an elephant stepped on it but to Lenovo's credit it still booted, screen flickered, tho, and Newegg replaced totally hassle-free. Good job Newegg!

Cons: When sold originally from Lenovo unit was supposed to have a 320GB 7200 RPM disk, 2GB memory and Win7 Pro. Comes with 250GB 5400 RPM SATA II, BUT 4GB memory--a fair trade-off. Also comes with generic Win7 32 AND 64bit HOME additions (2 disks) but you'll spend awhile downloading Lenovo drivers to get everything working (hence -1 star.) After you do this and run all the Windows Updates for Zeus' sake buy Acronis and do an image backup so you'll never have to do THAT again.

Other Thoughts: Tough unit will last me awhile.
