Pros: a little early to review, but my cpu is running cool and the fan runs whisper quiet just as i expected. it's not a complicated device.
Cons: doesn't fit as the noctua web site indicated. minus one egg!
Other Thoughts: i'd be a bit off about the motherboard vendor since i thought the first ram slot was a bit close. however the noctua web site states it is 100% compatible with all ram, bologna! i'm taking an egg for that sorry.
technically it does work, but i can't have it touching my ram and it definitely does in it's standard config. instead of placing the fan in a pull on the i/o side and reconfiguring the clip like a second fan would be, i moved the fan up to ride over the ram in a standard push configuration, which worked quite well.
again great engineering and it's a snap to install, but it would be nice if i had a third hand. the tool provided is not so great, but can help.
the fan would fit over low profile ram no problem, but who wants low profile ram? maybe in a server or non-window case.
Pros: quick and cool. stock heat sink should be all you need if used for standard desktop apps and games.
Other Thoughts: it handled a transcode job extremely well, however, if i were to use this chip for a lot of that sort of thing, an inexpensive heat sink would probably be necessary, however it runs nice and cool with the stock cooler during standard desktop apps like blender, gimp and some light compiling. it's a little rocket.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Noctua NH-U12P SE2 120mm SSO CPU Cooler
Pros: Quiet. Easy to install. Fits a lot of sockets. Keeps CPU cool under extreme loads.
Cons: It's large, but that's okay with me.
Other Thoughts: I've had this cooler for about 4 months and It hasn't skipped a beat on my 130W TDP i7-950 . I can run an all night compile jop and she'll never throttle back, I get every clock cycle through thick and thin. Basically I have no thermal worries. So, I'm thinking of getting another one for a socket 1150 CPU build I made. I could get a cheaper one since that CPU doesn't have as high a TDP rating as my 1366, but why? If I want to upgrade that CPU this cooler will cool whatever i throw at it especially now that wattage is going lower due to smaller lithography. Also since I've seen this one working I trust it. Now if only Noctua would start making LED fans.READ FULL REVIEW
