This review is from: LINKSYS PLEK400-NP Powerline AV200 1-Port Network Adapter Kit, Up to 200Mbps
Pros: Not sure there are any unless wireless is absolutely not an option...
Cons: Slow, even side by side... REALLY slow when on a different circuit (same panel)
Other Thoughts: How can this be advertised as having 200Mbps speeds when the LAN connection is 100Mbps????
In any case, when connecting these next to each other on the same circuit (ideal scanario) I only got half the transfer rate of a direct connection. The 1GB folder was transferring at a rate of 12Mbps vs >6Mbps using the PLEK400 (as measured by Win7). In my target location I got much worse speeds which were even lower than wireless.
This review is from: Lenovo 70A29001NA 2TB Iomega EZ Media & Back-up Center
Pros: Cheap 2TB NAS ($80)
Cons: Does not support NFS!
Usable, but mediocre file access speed.
USB 2.0 (but 3.0 would prob not be any faster with processor)
SLOW administrative web console
BEWARE when attaching ext USB drive as the whole unit locks up.
Other Thoughts: Not sure why the admin interface is so slow. Not sure why it tries to do too much (like index all media) when it simply does not have the power. It should boot up in the very simplest file server mode and give warnings if the user really wants it to do any more "heavy lifting"READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: It works as advertised. Now I can stream my music collection in the car and the kids can watch separate movies on their tablets while traveling. Makes my media library portable.
Cons: None I've come acrossREAD FULL REVIEW
