This review is from: ASUS Xonar DS 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Audio Card
Pros: When the card itself was installed it sounded much better than my on board sound card did.
Cons: Getting this thing installed was a burden, physically it went in fine, however EVERYTHING after that was terrible. Windows 8/my Asus motherboard wouldn't recognize the card no matter what I tried. After a few hours of googling and seeing tons of other people having this issue I followed instructions where I ended up fixing it by loading a USB drive with an old HP 'dos' program then manually configured it so it would be recognized. After the drivers were installed, which left a lot of be desired for as far as getting more sound from a high quality pair of headphones. The entire time I kept looking and hoping I could do more to change the ranges, but oh well, drivers and software are underwhelming. If that was the only issue, fine. Less than 2 days into owning the card all of a sudden a terrible static and popping started occurring. i changed out my headphones, the cabling, I even re-seated the card into a new slot. Nothing helped. Returned for credit. Best decision I made during the entire process of research and buying the card.
Other Thoughts: A truly awful experience from minute one of installing this card til the end. I finally ponied up and bought a real sound card and have had no issues.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Rosewill RHM-556 3.5mm Connector Circumaural Headset
Pros: They are very affordable, collapse-able, lightweight, and the microphone recedes into the ear piece. The sound quality coming out of them is not too bad when you consider the price point, they do not compare to my nice Vmodas or my Bose, but they work well in consideration. The main reason I use my set is for the microphone for online gaming. The sound comes through pretty clear.
Cons: The sound on the microphone comes across a little quiet which can easily be turned up, they are not extremely comfortable over extended periods of time, and part connecting the ear piece broke around a year.
Other Thoughts: All in all for the 15 dollars I paid for them I liked them quite a bit. The microphone receding was actually quite helpful on many occasions. The construction is a bit cheap, but nothing really worth noting. The wires no do not deal with cat bites too well... so I am ordering a new pair :)READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: The monitor itself has a beautiful range of colors (especially for the price). I originally purchased the item to be the secondary monitor, but it quickly became my primary since the colors were amazing. The ports are easy to get to and its not a struggle having to connect everything. It also came with alot of wires for hooking up pretty much anything.
Cons: None for me (although I have never used the sound)
Other Thoughts: I have used Asus in the past for motherboards and the like, wasnt even aware they made monitors, and am very happy with my purchase (newegg shipped fast as always)READ FULL REVIEW
