1 out of 5 eggs Don't even think about wasting $$ on this 11/03/2014

This review is from: PNY 128GB 128GB Classic Attache' USB drive 2.0 Model P-FD128CLCAP-GES3

Pros: capacity

Cons: EXTREMELY SLOW, UNRELIABLE AND LASTED 4 MONTHS lost data

Other Thoughts: don't waste $$ on these larger usb flash drives tho they may entice you; stick with 8-16gb like voyagers that don't seem to ever fail

3 out of 5 eggs Big but pretty slow, exfat corrupted files 09/20/2014

This review is from: PNY 128GB 128GB Classic Attache' USB drive 2.0 Model P-FD128CLCAP-GES3

Pros: Space, size/weight easily formatted with ntsf ext3 etc

Cons: EXTREMELY SLOW with big files > 30gb

exfat file corruption like nearly every usb flash drive

Other Thoughts: I'm a sucker for big usb flash drives I guess because of being able to easily carry compared to a pnp usb drive with the cable etc. I was using this to (attempt) to transport some quite large tarballs on the order of 80gb. more than 5 hours to copy! Something happens with flash cache for large files. something bad. I did try ntfs as well as ext3 file systems, both slow. I have always thought that MS has the best drivers but speed was about the same. Now one thing is that drive is fast enough with a large directory of small files just doesnt like big files which seems to be the way of all flash memory..

finally the drive has the common exfat ascii file corruption issues which is likely the fault of MS.

This is a big fairly slow inexpensive flash drive. I would never trust it for critical data and for big files look elsewhere but for moving some avi files around etc it;s ok. but then why do you need 128gb? Maybe 32gb is about the ideal size for these flash drives.

Patriot Viper 3 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model PV316G160C0K
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: Fast and reliable

Cons: none but much more expensive now

Other Thoughts: 18 months ago, 16gb ddr3 high end ram was like $50-60. The price has more than doubled on most items.
You can understand why micron and other manuf profits are wayyyy up.
