HP Pavilion Slimline Desktop AMD E1-2500, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Radeon HD8240, DVDRW Lightscribe, Windows 8 Pro 64 Bit
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Well priced. Decent video card. Adequate RAM. Windows 8.1.

Cons: Right out of the box this little machine runs like a dog. After heavy removal of bloatware this little machine will surprise you. Booting from USB requires a BIOS update otherwise you will not have the ability to boot a USB drive. It has an external power supply like a laptop. The processor is a bit disappointing.

Other Thoughts: Not a bad unit for the price. Remove all HP software and Bloatware. Remove McAfee antivirus and use Windows Defender to speed it up. Takes some tweaking to run at a comfortable speed. Otherwise right out of the box you will be waiting 30 seconds for the browser to open.

ASUS PCE-N15 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n PCI Express 300/300Mbps Transfer/Receive Rate 64-bit WEP, 128-bit WEP, WPA2-PSK, WPA-PSK, WPS support
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Low price. Asus brand.

Cons: I bought an Asus N56U router and went and purchased this card elsewhere. This card has problems staying connected to my ASUS router. It also has problems staying connected to other routers. I ALWAYS get a bad signal. I've re-installed windows multiple times with the same results. I went back to using my Belkin wireless USB adapter and I have no problems. I would like to have an internal card with a good signal so I will look elsewhere. I have no clue what is wrong with the PCE-N15 but it just has very poor results in speed and connection strength. Very disappointed.

OCZ Vertex Plus R2 VTXPLR2-25SAT2-120GB 2.5
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

5 out of 5 eggs i have the utmost respect for OCZ 12/26/2012

This review is from: OCZ Vertex Plus R2 VTXPLR2-25SAT2-120GB 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: This SSD is a decent product. It is a bit aged for an SSD but the price is right. I was getting over 200MB/sec on HD Tune. I first must state, I had the "Vertex Plus" which has been replaced by this product free of charge from OCZ (hence R2 - revision 2). With little effort, OCZ replaced my product in a very timely matter. A week later, my Western Digital hdd went out within the warranty period and they wouldn't replace it without the receipt. OCZ has earned my respect for replacing their products free of charge. This will keep me coming back to purchase their products.

Cons: A bit out of date, however OCZ offers faster and newer models.

Other Thoughts: I am planning on using it for the O/S and purchase another specifically for installing games on. Game loading times increased substantially with my previous one.
