XFX Double D FX-797A-TDKC Radeon HD 7970 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: None whatsoever

Cons: XFX definitely realized they had a bad batch/model, and used newegg as a way to dump these terrible cards on unsuspecting victims. These could be the worst cards on the market in terms of mining and having any stability whatsoever. I’m appalled that they would even boast these as a great card for mining.

After weeks of tweaking, setting up with hardware (different PSU’s, mobos, RAM, HDD’s etc, etc), partitioning hard drives, tweaking software, using BAMT miner, and even beefing up my breaker x3 (overboard, I know) produced the same results (multiple cards): black screens, memory dumps (blue screen), shutting off for no reason, running at over 95C+ (with —auto-fan setting, and manual fan setting at 80,85,90,95, & 100%), and the list goes on.

I bought 6 of these cards, have already RMA’d 2 of them, and plan on doing the same for the remaining 4. I have already setup multiple rigs with multiple different cards with no troubles. Then those came along…and the last two weeks have been hell trying to get them running. The fact that they advertised these as mining cards/mining kits is ridiculous, and possibly borderline fraudulent.

Unless you plan on using them for gaming, don’t mind blistering heat & loud temperatures, along with being a very unstable graphics card, then this is the product for you.

CORSAIR RM Series RM1000 1000W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: It powers things

Cons: -The chords are terrible. Stiff as hell, cheaply made, and a pain to deal with.

Other Thoughts: My first PSU (HX850) ran great, so I decided to purchase the RM1000 and RM850, along with the H55 CPU water cooling system. After 2 months, the HX850's 24-pin connector melted and ruined my motherboard. The two RM series PSU's were of sub-par quality, and the H55 water-cooling system started to make crackling/pooping noises. In addition, I ordered the Carbride 540 series cube case, before I found out all the problems with the other hardware. Unfortunatley, it was faulty too as both hard drive bays didn't work (wouldn't power up).

Then came the horrendous customer service from Corsair. It has taken 15 RMA/support tickets, dozens of emails, etc to finally get Corsair Customer Support to even acknowledge my inquiries. I'm hesitant to even RMA anything in fear I'll end up spending more money on shipping costs, and the headaches of dealing with a customer service dept that seems non-existent, just to be told I'm basically stuck with all the junk products I bought. I will never buy any Corsair product again.
