Great ram
Pros: These have worked great for me. They're not the best ram, but they are good and I have had good experiences with Crucial's lifetime warranty, so I'll recommend the product. I just got another 2 sets in, will use them tomorrow! Ordering more today!
Cons: None thus far
Overall Review: I've found that most people who have problems with ram either don't understand what they are doing, haven't check compatibility, and, on rare occasions, actually get a bad stick, but Much more often than not, it's one of the 1st 2...
Nice Enclosure - HORRIBLE Power Supply
Pros: The case design is pretty nice, and the internal circuitry is nicely done, for the most part (see cons for the one issue). Internal space is close but that actually helps the aluminum case remove the heat from the drive.
Cons: I didn't get a chance to try it out. I put my 1.5TB drive in it, plugged it into the adapter, and plugged the adapter into the wall - POP instant fry. Fortunately I had the enclosure's power off so no damage to the drive. The one not nice part about the internal circuitry is that the SATA connector on the PCB is mounted such that the connector is sideways WRT the HDD, which makes it difficult to get the short cable attached to the drive. Once attached and the drive is put into place, the PCB connector flexes quite a bit. I'd be worried about the long-term reliability of the connector and solder joints under such stress. They should have just mounted it straight on, there was plenty of room! They gave the wrong kind of screws to mount the HDD. HDD screws are 4-40 threads, they supplied 6-32 threaded screws. S-Video style power connector. I hate these cause they aren't easy to replace.
Overall Review: Newegg is loosing my respect. Their packaging and shipping quality has slowly but steadily dropped over the past few years. I ordered a HDD & 3 DVDRWs and they packed those into 2 bundles of 2 drives. Each bundle only had 1 layer of bubble wrap with no padding between the drives. I'm surprised the HDD worked and that any of the DVDRWs worked to burn discs. I haven't tried the other 2 of them yet, so we will see.
RMA'ed Replacement works better
Pros: See my previous review too. It works well now that it was replaced. I use it a LOT and it works reliably.
Cons: The PCB board is hot glued inside the case with cheap! hot glue. Hot glue is a perfectly reasonable way to mount a PCB, however when that PCB is going to be under stresses from connectors being removed and reinserted, you should use an industrial-adhesive grade hot glue, not the plain old common hobby-grade hot glue! Needless to say, I've had to re-glue the PCB in place. I still dislike that it uses an S-Video style plug for power. The are just not as rugged as the barrel type power connectors.
Overall Review: I'm happy enough now that I'm buying another one, which makes 3 if you count the model that is identical but has both SATA and PATA (which I use for on-site tech jobs).
Good keyboard
Pros: This is an excellent keyboard for use with a Media PC or HTPC. They have good RF range (15 feet or more if you have clear line of sight) and they are compact. It's the only keyboard I've found that is good for regular use on a HTPC simply because you can't loose the mouse and don't need a flat surface! Granted there's the Adesso one with a touchpad, but I much prefer a trackball!
Cons: The Only down side I've seen (and I've owned 4 of them over the past 3 years) is that 1) the trackball is difficult to remove and clean without taking apart the entire keyboard. It's possible, but can be hard. 2) Using the scroll wheel's push button feature can cause the scroll wheel to break. This is a design flaw, and if you intent to use the button, I highly recommend you take apart the keyboard and wedge a wad of paper between the PCB that the pushbutton is mounted to and the PCB for the mouse buttons. This will support the scroll wheel's PCB so that using the scroll button won't break the scroll wheel.
Overall Review: Imagine a Logitech Harmony Remote combined with a Mini RF keyboard & Trackball. That's what I want to see.
Good board
Pros: This was bought as a replacement for a board out of an HP tower (can't remember model #). The board in the HP was an oem asus board, and this one fit perfectly in it's place and now the PC is up and running again for low cost to my customer!
Cons: None
Overall Review: I hope the OEM channel for Asus doesn't degrade the quality of their retail boards in the future...
Works Great!
Pros: Only takes 1 usb port and gives PS/2 for both keyboard and mouse, but all of them do that... It also Works, and works with my KVM pretty well. Cost
Cons: When I use my KVM to switch to the PCs these are used on the mouse won't work immediately. I have to let the mouse be still for 3-5 seconds and sometimes press a key on the keyboard first before the mouse will start working. Not a big deal, but it's the reason it didn't get 5 eggs.
Overall Review: Annoying Dell PCs w/o PS/2 Ports GRRR!!!
Received cheap backgamon game instead of 1300Watt PSU and they wanted to refund me only 10%
Shipped a small wooden backgammon game instead of the PSU. Upon complaint, they asked for pictures. I sent them. They asked for more pictures. I sent them. They asked for MORE pictures - at this point it was a stalling tactic. I refused and demanded my PSU. They responded and offered to refund me 10% of the Power supply. That's a $130 powersupply and I got a $5 backgammon game that I have no use for. Told them Absolutely NOT. I have filed a complaint with Newegg and will follow up with a complaint to my Credit card company.
