This review is from: Intel EXPI9301CTBLK Network Adapter 10/ 100/ 1000Mbps PCI-Express 1 x RJ45
Pros: Seemed to work well, for several weeks. It does have a limited lifetime warranty...
Cons: I woke up one morning to discover that I could not connect to the Internet. LEDs were on, and I could ping my router. I could also "see" other computers on my LAN but I could not browse the Internet.
In the past, with other NICs I could unintall the driver and reboot, allowing Windows to reinstall the driver and all was fine-but not this time.
Other Thoughts: I removed this card and put in an Encore PCI Giga card (replacing this PCIe) and the new card works fine.
I did not try this NIC in another computer to debug further and so the possibility exists that this card is okay (with the OS or other software being the problem). So that is why 2 stars and not 1. But I suspect that the card is the problem-thus the low rating.
But since this NIC does has a lifetime warranty, I may debug it later and return if faulty, in whcih case I will update this review.
But in the mean time, you can take your chances with this NIC.
Installation: Windows 7 home 64bit, MSI 785GM-E65 MB with latest BIOS. GeForce GT 240 Vid card. Malwarebytes-paid ver.
Pros: This was cheap, no fan is nice.
Cons: Feels a little hot, but does not seem to be a problem
Other Thoughts: Okay, I admit it, I have not used this card for anything but displaying text. So it may be a great gaming card but it is not good for displaying text, expecially when the font and background are high contrast colors (like white/black or visa versa). A series of lighter and lighter shadow images of the font appear to the right of the actual font, repeating about 3 times visibly, with each shadow font appearing about one font width to the right of the previous.
I tried other cables and monitor and I even blasted a fan direction on the card (in case it was a heat problem, with no improvement.
Other than this, it seemed to be okay. But that was not good enough for me. Now I have just a piece of junk lying around. At least I can expect a partial "rebate".
This review is from: Tripp Lite P510-015 15 ft. VGA Monitor Extension Gold Cable (HD15 M/F)
Pros: Small cable is nice, cheap too (at six bucks)
Cons: Images have a noticable shadow making them appear slightly blury. It is most noticable with high contrasting images fore and aft. It would probably be okay when images do not need to be sharp but I would not use this cable if you needed to display text.
Other Thoughts: Too cheap to send back but next time I would try one with better ratings, and don't rely on an otherwise good brand name like Tripp Lite (bad idea Tripp lite, this product is cheapening your brand).READ FULL REVIEW
