This review is from: Transcend USB 3.0 Dual Expansion Card PCI Express Interface Model TS-PDU3
Pros: Provides 2 USB 3.0 connectors to your system, and uses 1 pci-express 1.0 slot. Fast transfer speeds, easy to install.
Cons: Requires a molex connector. Drivers must be downloaded from the mfr. website.
Other Thoughts: My system has eSATA, but no USB 3.0, so I bought this to support a new VANTEC NST-380SU3-BK USB3/eSATA hard drive enclosure. At this price, and the price of the enclosure, it would be crazy to pass this up. Was up and running in about 5 minutes.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: The USB 3.0 makes this a very fast way to back up your data. Easy 6 screw installation (4 to secure the drive, and 2 to secure the cover plate) took me all of 5 minutes. Sturdy metal design. ON/OFF switch. Has its own power adapter. USB 3.0 and eSATA cables included.
Cons: Minus 1 star for the following: The 3-pin power wire to connect the front light to the circuit board is not clearly labeled as to which way it should be oriented. I got lucky, and got it right on the first try, before installing the two screws that hold the cover plate. The USB 3.0, eSATA, and power adapter cords are only about 3 feet long, which may be a problem for some. The power connector is a 4-pin DIN, and is not clearly marked for proper orientation, meaning that you COULD plug it in wrong. The instructions show you the proper orientation, so READ THE DIRECTIONS.
Other Thoughts: If your computer does not have USB 3.0, you can do as I did and install a USB 3.0 expansion (pci-express 1.0) card into your motherboard. If your laptop/netbook has only USB 2.0 you will not get the full speed of this device, but at its current price, it is still worth it, as you may buy a device in the future that supports USB 3.0. Until then, you can use eSATA (if your device supports it) to get better speed than USB 2.0READ FULL REVIEW
