Nice card

LSI MegaRAID SATA / SAS 9260-8i 6Gb/s PCI-Express 2.0 w/ 512MB Onboard Memory RAID Controller Card, Kit--Avago Technologies
LSI MegaRAID SATA / SAS 9260-8i 6Gb/s PCI-Express 2.0 w/ 512MB Onboard Memory RAID Controller Card, Kit--Avago Technologies

Pros: I am replacing a Adaptec 5805 controller with this LSI 9260. Card runs ALOT cooler than the 5805 and it works well with SSD drives. I have it running with 4 OCS Agility EX in a raid 0 and it runs FAST

Cons: Not to bad but the BIOS is kind of like a Web Interface. The default raid configuration is Raid 6, so make sure you change it

Overall Review: Overall a very nice card, and crazy fast with SLC SSD drives.

Very HOT cards

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100259-1GL
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100259-1GL

Pros: The design allows for better cooling (heat pipes) with a lower fan settings

Cons: Generates ALOT of heat under the desk from 2 of these cards running. Also had many issues getting the latest drivers installed in Vista 64 (note: it seems to be an issue if you have Visual Studio 2008 installed).

Overall Review: Overall, not a bad product, but I did return them and purchased (just came in) 2x Nvidia GTX 280 SSC cards and they run much cooler and the overall experience just seems more fluid in games (not a hard core benchmark type) and overall.

SO far so good

OCZ RevoDrive X2 PCI-E 480GB PCI-Express x4 MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSDPX-1RVDX0480
OCZ RevoDrive X2 PCI-E 480GB PCI-Express x4 MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSDPX-1RVDX0480

Pros: I went from having 2 Intel 160 SSD's on a X58 (EVGA SLI) in a raid 0 to this as my primary drive. Much faster perfromance on all the benchmarks. In day, to day it is hard to tell much of a difference. Overall a very easy to use and nice product. This is much easier to install and use instead of 4 SSD drives and a raid controller for users who have not worked with raid before - this is raid 0).

Cons: Not sure if this is really a con, but the firmware on the controllers is not user updatable.

Overall Review: Yes, it is alot of money, but dead simple to install, use, and is screaming fast. Machine is: EVGA X58 SLI Intel 965 Extreme processor 12 gigs Corsair Ram 2 x EVGA 580 video cards in SLI RevoDrive X2 480 primary 3 WD Black 2 gig drives for main storage DVD and Blue ray drives

Great drives

OCZ Agility EX Series 2.5" 60GB SATA II SLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-1AGTEX60G
OCZ Agility EX Series 2.5" 60GB SATA II SLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-1AGTEX60G

Pros: Basically these have Intel SLC NAND chips (same used in the Intel Exreme SLC drives) with the Indilinx controller for alot less $$$$! I have 4 of these in a raid 0 with the LSI 9260 controller with the best benches I have ever worked with. Replaced 4 Intel X25 drives with an Adaptec 5805 and these drives blow those away!

Cons: As usual, cost per gig is very expensive

Overall Review: Because these are SLC based drives, not only should they last alot longer (take some real punishment) but also designed for incredible performance in a 24/7 enviroment.

The only ones to look at....

Intel X25-M 2.5" 80GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSDSA2MH080G1
Intel X25-M 2.5" 80GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSDSA2MH080G1

Pros: I have three of these in a Raid 0 on an Adaptec 5805 and they are solid as a rock. The speed mixed with the stability is what make these best in class.

Cons: expensive

Overall Review: Don't be fooled into just looking at benchmarks. Fact is these are much faster at small writes (which most writes are small) and same if not better that "other" drives at reads. Anything with a JMicron (G.Skil, OCZ) are just cheap knock offs. Outside of Intel and Samsung, no one actually makes their own drive (all OEM with custom firmware). OCZ Apex are a nightmare in raid.

So far so good, better than the 4870

EVGA 01G-P3-1284-AR GeForce GTX 280 SSC Edition 1GB 512-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card
EVGA 01G-P3-1284-AR GeForce GTX 280 SSC Edition 1GB 512-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

Pros: Very cool running and near silent. The drivers installed with no problem. Overall the experience of working with these cards (bought 2 of them for some SLI & 4 monitor support) is not only much better than my ATI experience, but it just seems to handle graphics much smoother. I also purchased and will install the EVGA GTX 200 Hydro Copper 16 Waterblocks to complete my watercooling system for near complete silence.

Cons: High cost, big cards

Overall Review: I just returned 2 4870's that I had due to the EXTREME heat generated by them and the crazy driver issues (manual install via command line for the latest ATI drivers was horrid)
