CM Storm QuickFire XT - Limited Edition Full Size Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Green Switches
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: I have the compact, ten-key-less version of this keyboard, which Newegg is not stocking right now. They should. The build quality on these CM Storm keyboard is excellent -- better than the Razor mechanical I have with Cherry MX Blues. I really like the Cherry MX Greens for typing, because they are stiffer than the Blues and require more force to actuate. I am not the world's best typist, and these greens help me to avoid inadvertent keystrokes. If you like clicky keyboards, give this one a try.

Cons: None

HighPoint RocketRAID 2640X4 SGL PCI-Express x4 SATA / SAS Controller Card

5 out of 5 eggs Correcting prior bad review 12/30/2012

This review is from: HighPoint RocketRAID 2640X4 SGL PCI-Express x4 SATA / SAS Controller Card

Pros: I mistakenly gave this item a 1-egg review below and I am adding another positive review to correct the "egg average" for this product due to my first low review. All in all, I think it is a 4-egg product, so this second 5-egg review should almost balance the scales. Too bad one cannot revise an existing review on Newegg.

Cons: None.

Razer BlackWidow Tournament Edition Mechanical PC Gaming Keyboard– Cherry MX Blue (RZ03-00810200-R3U1)
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: This is my first time using a mechanical keyboard, and the tactile feel and clicky sound of the Cherry blue switches is wonderful. The feedback has improved my touch typing over rubber-dome actuated keyboards. In addition, the keyboard is nice and heavy. Unlike some of its competitors, it has a matte finish, which I much prefer to a glossy finish as it doesn't look smudged all the time. I chose this smaller edition over Razer's other, similar offerings because I don't use a keypad and this smaller form-factor is better suited to my needs (including having the ability to better center the keyboard in front of the monitor screen. I am ordering a second one of these keyboards for my office, because this keyboard is so far superior to the firm's general-issue equipment. I'll never go back to a non-mechanical keyboard.

Cons: The only things I could have wished for were backlit keys and a built-in wrist pad. I would have been willing to pay more for those features, and, although they are available on certain of Razer's full-sized editions, I didn't want to sacrifice the smaller form-factor of this edition for those extra bells and whistles on the other ones.

Other Thoughts: I had read about this keyboard on Tom's Hardware and kept waiting for it to arrive on Newegg. After waiting several months, I ended up purchasing the item from a competing vendor. When I noticed today that this edition had finally arrive at Newegg, I decided to add a positive review.
