This review is from: ABIT IP35 Pro XE LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: I've had this board now for almost 8yrs and it's still going strong!
Cons: ABit is no longer in business :(
Other Thoughts: This is probably the best motherboard I have ever bought. I used this board for a recording studio build and I can't believe how long it has held up to long hours of running 24/7 in some cases. I've never had a problem with this board EVER!!
Unfortunately it's time to retire it to a basic internet build which is fine as the kids can use it for homework and such.
It's time for daddy to get a Core i7 now!!
Pros: Works great on my A-Bit IP35 Pro XE mobo at 1066 (had to bump up my voltage to match the ram cause I guess my board runs a little lower than what was specified but no big deal. Love the heatsinks although they may limit the types of cpu coolers I can use. My Thermaltake GunMet Orb has plenty of room and I'm pretty sure I could go with a slightly larger HS&F so all is well.
Cons: I didn't get 4 sticks (only 2)
Other Thoughts: My board will support 8GB's of ram and I will be buying 2 more sticks to max out very soon. Didn't buy from Newegg... (got mines from Micro Center) yeah yeah I know... but I sold my Corsair RAM that I did buy from Newegg and needed to replace it quick with no downtime.
A-Bit IP35 Pro XE
Intel Core2Quad Q6600
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Kingston HyperX T1 4GB 2 x 2 sticks soon to be 8GB 2 x 4 sticks
Pros: Plenty of space inside, solidly built, locking doors, modular design, great price!!
I got this for my recording studio computer. I was previously using the Antec 300 which I still love but I wanted a rackmount to get my desktop off the floor (less dust) and I wanted to mount it in my rack with the rest of my equipment and this case did the trick nicely. The rack holes lined up perfectly and I was also able to seamlessly move everything from my tower into the rack including my 850 Antec TPQ-850 psu and my Thermaltake GunMet-Orb cpu cooler.
Cons: The cons are minor... they include next to no cable management but since my psu is modular this wasn't much of an issue but with a case of this size it would have been nice to have nonetheless. Also, the bottom of the case has some rough edges to it and it scratched my studio desk top when sliding it into the rack so I slid a large mouse pad under it and all is well.
My Antec 300 has 5 case fans 4- 120mm, 1- 140mm and sadly there wasn't any room to bring them into the rack but I bought 2 80mm fans for the rear exhaust and my temps are fine even under heavy load I guess do the the shear size of the case which is fine as it's quieter now which is really important for me.
Other Thoughts: Other than the rough edges under the case and no cable management I absolutely love this case! It is heavy and even heavier when loaded with computer components so traveling with it would be a pain but that's what laptops are for. Besides, this bad boy is staying put in the rack where it belongs iStarUSA customer support is great and very helpful even if you just have general questions and for that I will buy iStarUSA again in the future!
Give me some cable management and this can get 5 eggs :)
Newegg/UPS took their sweet time shipping my case but it came to my door in perfect condition.
