Very good router
Pros: Fast. Dual band. Easy menu to set the low band to n band for a the phones without getting weird. Led lights don't attract moths like the n__tgear one I returned did. I can actually sleep with this one in the room. It even has a button to further darken it. All in all, this is a very, very good router and I am keeping it.
Cons: It is very big. And yellow on black. With 4 antennas. Wow. Big. I guess I can't complain about that though with performance like this.
Overall Review: When you buy an ac router, you have to understand that non ac equipment will get weird speeds. I know it is supposed to switch, but I am telling you, my speeds are sweet as long as I connect to the right signal. The 2g set to N for my phones and the 5g band set to N for my PC. An AC wifi card is next on my wish list for my PC. Then I will switch on the ac mode of the 5g band. Anyway, I got to tell you, I stated with a leading brand. It sucked. And it was an 1800ac. So I returned it and bought this. And the moral of the story is, always buy from newegg. They made the return simple, with a printed postage label. Didn't cost me a thing. Bye bye, n__tgear. Anyway, this router is streaming movies to my daughter while I play online speed action games without missing a beat. My wife was even running pandora at the same time the other day. No hiccups.
Free
Pros: I got this on a deal when I bought a rosewill Firewaire PCI card. The dust blower is cool. My kids play with it. The tripod is silly. If you are into photography, this little tripod has ONE use. To set your camera on the table with a timer set so you can run and get into the picture. That way you don't get a picture of the table across the bottom of the photo. If you need that, then great! The card reader was worth it. You can plug a sandisk in the back and then plug it into a usb port. Handy. Let's see, what else came in this grab bag....Oh yeah, screen protectors and a camera case. Screen protectors I haven't used yet. You have to cut them to fit your particular camera. As far as the case goes....
Cons: It doesn't do anything for me. My old point and shoot camera is a Sony, and it is pretty little, and even it didn't fit in the cool little nylon case. Honestly, I can't imagine a camera that would fit in this thing. ANy camera that is thin enough, would be too tall and too wide. Any camera that fits H and W, is too long. Like my Sony.
Overall Review: I think they are unloading these kits now that ipods are the pocket camera of choice.
Beta driver at ASUS
Pros: There is a Beta driver now available at ASUS for windows 10. It is 2.1.0.8. It says "not applicable for EU". I really want to buy this, but the Windows 10 thing is giving me cold feet. Would someone please try this Beta driver out and see if it fixes the problem? Please post a review if it works!
Cons: MIGHT not work in win10. The Beta might fix this. Please someone try it and report back!
Overall Review: Not an owner yet, so i am giving it 4 stars for the sake of fairness.
Great!
Pros: Has everything you could ever need, except firewire, which is getting outdated anyway. I rolled the dice on this board because I gave more weight to the good reviews than the bad, and I am glad I did! Everything works great. A quick comment about the RAM issues. The installation instructions have a pretty specific recommendation of which DDR headers to use when you are only using two sticks of memory. The recommendation seemed counter-intuitive to me, but I followed the instructions and everything works. I'm just saying, had I not read the instructions, I would have used a different pair of headers out of the 4. I'm not sure why it would matter, but maybe that's why some people have had some trouble with the RAM. H60 water cooler fits just fine. Comes close to the ram, but it fits!
Cons: Make sure you install the WIFI card before mounting the motherboard in a case. There is a screw that can only be installed from the backside. The instructions have the wifi card installation instructions AFTER the motherboard mounting. Which is dumb. Luckily, I had already read about that issue in other reviews. Thanks fellow builders!!!!
Overall Review: My limited knowledge of overclocking makes me dangerous to this hardware. I have an unlocked i5-3570K, but I haven't been brave enough to mess with the robust bios yet.....wish me luck
CHECK YOUR NEEDS
Pros: It does what it is supposed to do.
Cons: You have to make sure the internal plug matches the cable that you case has. In my case, the Corsair case had a 1394 female plug. It needs a 1394 header on the card. THIS card has a firewire port on the card (internal). I guess I took it for granted that the internal firewaire was a header, not a port. So rather than returning and ordering something else, I found a 12" adapter cord from a different website. Expensive. I should have just returned and exchanged for a card with a header instead. But I like Rosewill, so, oh well.
Overall Review: When trying to decide on which card to get, you have to look real close at the photos, because the descriptions don't always make it clear if the internal is a port or a header.
Great
Pros: It is what it is, and it does what it does. Well.
Cons: Not really a con, but the tube is so tiny, I searched and searched through all the packing peanuts and then called new egg beacuse I thought it wasn't in there! While I was on hold, I started unwrapping some other stuff in my shipment. The folks packing my order stuffed it into the taped up OEM bubble wrap of a DVD drive I ordered. That's great, except, I wasn't planning on unwrapping that until after the build, because it was for a different build. Who would have thought to check there? Maybe I'm just a noob at newegg packing methods. haha. No eggs off.
I can't believe this
I have ordered many things from newegg and always been happy. This is ridiculous. This seller should be banned from newegg. It is not at all clear on the item ordering that it will take a month before it even leaves CHINA. At this rate, it won't even be here before Christmas! FYI, it says if the item doesn't arrive in 30 days, you get a refund. I'm going to be asking for that refund, so get your checkbook ready. Still waiting. 1 star is too generous. But that's as low as it will let me post.
