This review is from: NETGEAR ReadyNAS 312 (RN31221D-100NAS) 2TB (2 x 1TB) Network Storage
Pros: I opened the box and was pleasantly surprised by this units small size, it easily fits in my "tech closet" where i hold all my routers and switches, power usage is low too. the drives included with this are 2 toshiba drives set up in raid 1 for backup, so you will only get 1tb of space. and netgear offers a great warranty with this, 90 day phone support, and 5 year hardware, which is great in case a drive fails. however the unit received from netgear as a review item arrived DOA. i will continue this in the next section
Cons: Okay, so it was DOA when i received it, and i went to netgears technical chat to talk to someone to see if there was anything i could do, however the person on the chat was very un-helpful and i got irritated with his incompetence within minutes, so i terminated the chat, and called their 1-800 number for business support as this is a business level product. and i was amazed at the helpfulness, this person knew exactly what was going on, and he sent me a new one out asap, when the new one arrived i had to do a factory reset on it in order to get it to work, and after some searching i noticed im not the only one who had this issue, this needs to be addressed by netgear.
Other Thoughts: all in all this is a solid product, with some minor flaws that need to be addressed by netgear, I do suggest this product, but be warned you will have to probably do a factory reset to get it to workREAD FULL REVIEW
Pros: When testing this i decided to test 3 main aspects of wifi adapters
and ease of use
In the speed and range category i tested it at multiple locations in a "average" house, including through multiple walls, and floors, and a concrete wall
In the furthest distance from my router on both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands i received speeds of about 30Mpbs,
In all other locations i received speeds ranging between 30 and 200Mbps
In the security category it was quite easy to connect to my WPS network, WPS is a nice feature for adapters, as long as your router supports it.
In ease of use i plugged the adapter into my windows 7 Pc and windows attempted to recognize it, but needed to go to windows update to find the drivers, But it was mainly a painless setup, as long as you currently have internet connectivity, If you dont they include a driver disk
Cons: I have no real complaints about this adapter, except maybe there is no place to store the USB cap once you plug it into your computer
Other Thoughts: In my final thoughts i would recommend this adapter to someone who wants to add quick N connectivity to their computer, and the 5 Ghz band is an excellent bonus featureREAD FULL REVIEW
This review is from: D-Link Wireless AC 1200 Dual Band Adapter (DWA-182)
Pros: There isnt much to say about this USB adapter except that its a solid piece of technology, but really needs a USB 3.0 port,
the range is good at 3000ft from a AC1750 router, and through multiple walls and a concrete wall, i got speeds of about 200Mbps however these speeds i believe would be higher if D link included a USB 3.0 port, as the transfer speeds of 2.0 are 480Mbps and the speed of 3.0 is 5Gbps you will never be able to get the full 1200Mbps that the product advertises
In the ease of use category i have to say it was quite easy to set up, i just plugged it into my windows 7 Pc and it was automatically recognized and i was off and on my wifi
Cons: the only real drawback of this is that you will never be able to get the 1200mbps speeds offered, But i do recommend this as a usb adataper
Other Thoughts: In my final thoughts i recommend this as a USB adapter only of a PCI or PCI-E adapter is unavailableREAD FULL REVIEW
