Rosewill RX81U-ES-25A 2.5

Pros: Low cost. Easy to use/assemble. USB

Cons: Plastic parts make you nervous during assembly. Tight fitting metal covers.

Other Thoughts: Took me all of two minutes to take apart, drop in an old notebook drive, reassemble, plug it in to a USB port on my computer. I had access to all the old files on the drive. Hey it worked. Longevity?

Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-775M 775W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V v2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply GeForce GTX 470 Certified

Pros: Worked right out of the box. Modular cables make builds easy. Plenty of power for Crossfire setup.

Cons: The built-in cable for 2x4 MB power connection was a little short.

Other Thoughts: I wish they'd taken into account a dual Graphics card setup and trying to streatch the 2x4 MB power connection cable over them with a bottom mounted psu. It's really more of an aesthetic's issue than function but blew my whole hidden cabling look.

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL

  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Worked on boot. BIOS recognized settings. Overclockable. Stable.

Cons: I'm not sure those large CPU cooler inhibiting DIMM fins actually do anything to disipate heat.

Other Thoughts: My first choice cpu cooler made placing ram in all four slots impossible. The cooling fins on DIMM slot 3 obstructed the second cpu cooler fan by a few milimeters (Intel DP67BG MB). Not worth an egg, but something to think about.
