4 out of 5 eggs After adjustment, It's good 10/09/2014

This review is from: Rosewill RDRD-11003 2.5" SSD / HDD Mounting Kit for 3.5" Drive Bay with 60 mm Fan

Pros: Well designed. After original installation there was lots of noise and vibration. It was really bad. So I got mad and just unpluged the fan. After a few days I wanted to relook this thing. I pulled the covers of my case and pulled the HD mount and gave it a good look. Decided to take out 2 of the fan mounting screws, and made sure the fan was sitting level with no frame distortion. I then put it back in the case and fired every thing back up.

Well... It was perfectly quiet, no vibration. Still not sure it keeps my Samsung SSD drive that much cooler. Maybe a SSD drive just runs at the temp it is going to run at. My case has plenty of air flow. But for the price of the fan cooled mount, who knows.

A good steel mount. Fit well. Needed adjustment to get rid of fan noise and vibration. Good deal for the price! Took a bit of work though.

Cons: Took a LOT of work to get it to work right.

Other Thoughts: In all fairness, it is a good product. But shouldn't have to work with it so much to make it right.

Pros: Great adapter. Fit perfectly in my case.

Cons: Fan is loud and vibrates.

Other Thoughts: The only reason I gave this 3 stars is because it is metal and fit perfectly with my Samsung drive and my case. The fan, however, is a piece of junk. The blades don't fit the fan frame and make a tapping noise, and it vibrates the whole case. I just unplugged the fan. If you are looking for a cooling solution. This is not it.

5 out of 5 eggs Great little fan! 09/29/2014

This review is from: EVERCOOL FAN-EC3007M12CA 30mm Case Cooling Fan

Pros: Blows lots of air. Very quiet.

Cons: Mounting screws supplied are worthless.

Other Thoughts: This is a great little fan! I am using it to cool the PCH chip on my Intel DZ77SL-50K MB. This chip runs hot. Usually around 48 to 49 degrees C. Under load it would go up to 54C. To give Intel some credit, the original equipment CPU fan supplied with the 3570K that I have would blow air over the PCH heat sink and there would be bo problem. But I have installed a Cooler Master Seidon water CPU cooler, so no air being blown on the PCH chip. This little fan totally performs as advertised. Very quiet and moves a lot of air. Mounting it on the Intel heat sink was impossible as shipped. The supplied screws barely stuck through the fan holes. I got lucky and had some rubber standoff thingies that came with another fan, and was able to mount the fan to the Intel heat sink. This did two things. 1: able to mount the fan. 2: the rubber, and the distance between the fan and the heat sink made it totally quiet. Can't hear the fan at all. So... Now the PCH chip stays at 44C. Ok, so it goes up to 46C running the Intel Burn Test. The CM Seidon water cooler keeps the CPU temp at 66C maximum. So, I'm happy. If I find a source for the rubber standoff thingies I will update this post.
