Fractal Design Core 1000 FD-CA-CORE-1000-USB3-BL Black Steel MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case

4 out of 5 eggs Borderline great but far from perfect 10/31/2014

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 1000 FD-CA-CORE-1000-USB3-BL Black Steel MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: *About as small as a MATX mini tower gets
*USB 3.0
*Included 120mm fan is reasonably quiet
*Potential for good enough airflow for a reasonable mid-range gaming system
*Thumb screws for expansion cards as well as side panels
*Side mounted front panel connectors make for a very clean face
*Full mesh front
*All screws are painted black
*One of the best cases in this size and sub $50 price range

Cons: *Top mounted power supply
*No 3.5" bay or 5.25" to 3.5" adapter for fan controllers
*No removable filter for front 120mm fan means removing the entire front to properly clean the filter
*Left side panel does not fit flush. It's only a slightly improper fit but it's almost entirely around the panel.
*Slight wobble in case though this will vary person to person due to warping from shipping and handling

Other Thoughts: For starters, a modular PSU is always recommended for Micro ATX builds when the budget allows so don't complain if you intentionally buy standard PSU with lots of long cables because that is on you, not the case manufacturer.

Cable management will require you to think before hand and make use of plenty of zip ties.

I would have definitely preferred to see removable fan filter for the front 120mm fan.

I also would have liked to have seen a top mounted 120mm fan mount but the top mounted PSU killed this. The case is so small that a bottom mounted power supply would have actually helped with cable management with small zip tie mounts throughout the case leaving far less slack cable to try to work with.

A 3.5" drive bay adapter would have been highly preferential for use of 3/4 channel fan controllers. Now I either have to buy a large 5/6 channel 5.25" fan controller or buy a 3.5" controller and an adapter, adding unnecessary cost.

My system:
- Fractal Core 1000 with additional 120mm and 92mm Fractal fans on the way along with a 5.25" fan controller
- eVga 430w PSU
- MSI 785GTM-E45
- Phenom 9750 locked to 2 cores running 3ghz while under-volted to 1.21v
- Zalman 7000V-AL
- 2x 2gb G.Skill DDR2-1066
- MSI GTS 450 2GB DDR3
- 128gb Transcend SSD340 SSD

1 out of 5 eggs Literally breaks on you. Brittle trash 10/14/2014

This review is from: G.SKILL 32GB microSDHC Flash Card Model FF-TSDG32GN-C10

Pros: Price but then again, you get less than what you pay for.

Cons: Beware of G.Skill MicroSD cards. I went to install one in my phone and right out of the package the piece of trash snapped in half while pushing it in the phone before it made it through it's first use.

Buy a MicroSD card from a company like SanDisk or Samsung who use good quality materials unless you like getting 2 halves of a MicroSD card for the price of one.
