Pros: This card is PERFECT for a server. Low cost and MOST importantly NO MOVING PARTS! My last card failed (and didn't allow the server to boot) because the fan stopped due to dust. This one has no fan, just a REALLY good heat sink therefore nothing to fail.
Cons: None. Works as designedREAD FULL REVIEW
This review is from: TRENDnet TFM-560U High Speed Fax Modem 56Kbps USB V.90, V.34, V.32bis, V.32, , V.27ter, V.23, V.22bis, V.22, V.21, Bell 212/103 V.42bis, MNP Class 5 V.42, MNP Class 2-4 Group 3 compatible, Class 1 fax: V.17, V.29, V.27ter, V.21
Pros: Good little FAX MoDem so far .... I tested with the free HP fax test number 1-888-473-2963. Worked. You FAX a page to them and a few minutes later you get a page back from HP. Installed under Vista 64 bit Ultimate using the drivers on the CD that is included. The Windows FAX and Scan software that comes with Vista Ultimate works fine with this FAX MoDem. I added a 12" (or so) USB extension cord because as the other reviews have noted this USB device is BIG. On Windows FAX and Scan under the Tools --> FAX Settings --> Advanced, set Number of attempts = 0 (infinite?) and Dial Again after 1 minute to retry quicker.
Cons: None really so far ... I have to use this for a while.
Other Thoughts: WARNING Will Robinson!!! WARNING!!! Do NOT install FAX/MoDem on USB 2.0. I put it on a slower USB port first, Vista advised me to install on a USB 2.0 that I had (more speed), (Fiddled around for a long time...) Ran the "Classic Phone" software that was on the enclosed CD and that showed the MoDem status as Orange. This software is REALLY useful for troubleshooting, it shows all of the commands / connections to the MoDem in a scrolling window. Moved the FAX/MoDem back to the slower USB port all of the sudden the status was green and it worked. I suggest not using USB 2.0 for this MoDem.READ FULL REVIEW
