Works as a combo to headphone+mike splitter!
Pros: It can be used to split a 4-position combo audio port into a 3-position (stereo) headphone port and a 2-position (mono) microphone port. Really! The (Newegg) title is misleading: the ground is common and so there is no way to split the other 3 (signal) positions into 2x2 independent signal positions. (For those born after 1965: 2x2=4; sorry for this stinker but once in a while I have to vent). If the mike socket is 3-port indeed, its 2 signal positions must be shorted in the splitter. For the one-egg reviewers: if you receive the wrong product have it returned. And if you have connection problems try to figure out where that bad connection actually occurs. Startech does not make bad stuff but if you are so unlucky to receive a lemon just have it replaced. And do not pollute the reviews!
Cons: The icons on the separate black sockets are pretty much unreadable. So take apply a small piece of pink/green heat shrink on the mike/headphone socket.
Not great
Pros: It works for many drives. I did not notice any loss in write/read speed.
Cons: This item is hardly cheaper than that the sata replacement drives you would have to buy. Often slows down startup; sometimes device does not show up under windows; occasionally does not work at all. (I tested 2 of these and 2 similar in several PCs.)
Overall Review: Reasons to buy this include nostalgia, and environmental concerns.
Excellent!
Pros: Fits slim profile ODD very well. 2.5" tray-less slot really supports hot swap; drive slides in very well. Two USB 3.0 front slots are very convenient with "older" enclosures that have only USB 2 front ports. Rugged design real space saver.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: You may need a slim profile to normal SATA adapter or cable. Ignore the troll that gave a 1 star review.
Works
Pros: Use it with an Intel DP45SG mobo and Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 processors. Tests turn out well compared to benchmarks. Fast enough to check my e-mail and make notes.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: I am not an expert memory tester/benchmarker. This is to let know that it works with the other components.
Great
Pros: Fits, works, quiet
Cons: Not much to write about these
Great
Pros: Just works, great design, no more Marvell components No legacy devices/connections
Cons: No legacy devices/connections
Overall Review: I find it strange that the boot logo screen appears twice It took me a while to enable WOL from S5. Finally figured that I need to Enable PME in the NIC device properties under Windows.
