Pros: Price for performance is nearly ideal. Netflix works great, as does YouTube. I even tried loading some movies on the SD card and they played perfectly as well. The Steam app works well, but no games available at this time. I am not normally a "pad" person because I have owned an Android Bionic mobile phone for a few years, and feel no desire or need to upgrade at this time. If it aint broke, don't fix it. But I have been looking to pick up something lightweight yet capable for those times when a laptop is simply not practical (doctors office, restaurant, etc). The Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 looked pretty close to what I was looking for, and at such a reasonable price, I figured I could not go wrong. Turns out Asus delivered the goods, and I am happy, if not pleasantly surprised, with the performance of the device.
Cons: None that I can think of aside from the fact that once you install Real Racing 3, you are likely to become completely addicted, as I have.
Other Thoughts: My first foray into the pad market has been successful. To be honest, what kept me away was the price of the other products. I strongly suspect Asus has upset the apple cart (no pun intended) that is today's pad market. Conspicuous consumerism has now been replaced with a "most bang for the buck" model that is much more favorable for end users.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Grandstream GXV3140 IP Multimedia Phone
Pros: I ordered the GXV3140 for my wife, who is from Europe, so that she can video chat with her family overseas. I have had an old IPEVO Skype tabletop phone for a few years, so I was familiar with the concept. What surprised me was the incredible amount of options the GXV3140 offers. It can surf the internet, it can view YouTube content, it has an RSS news feeder, multi-language support, and it has RCA video output so that it can feed video to a TV. In essence, it is a miniature computer. I also noticed that the GXV3140 has a USB port, so on a whim, I plugged in a mouse. A few seconds later, a mouse cursor showed up on the screen. I was stunned. The manual says it supports USB keyboards, but I did not test that. After I configured and tested the GXV3140, my wife called her cousin and the sound quality was very good, even to an overseas phone. I will be buying another GXV3140 next month as the this one has already been shipped to my wife's family. If you are looking for a tabletop Skype phone, this is the absolute top of the line.
Cons: Nothing I can think of.
Other Thoughts: You might think the price is steep, but you get more than you pay for.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Amazing colors, brightness, and contrast. I purchased this Asus VB198T-P to replace my ancient Samsung SyncMaster 940B. I keep an old Windows XP computer around as a backup system, and to run my old games that either do not support widescreen (Republic Commando, Return to Castle Wallenstein, X-Wing Alliance, etc). The old Samsung developed a few too many dead pixels, but it gave me a decade of service. As soon as I plugged the Asus in I was shocked at how crisp and bright the monitor was in comparison to the 940B.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Other Thoughts: It would seem that it is becoming difficult to find standard 4:3 monitors these days. I would suggest grabbing one now before they stop making them.READ FULL REVIEW
