This review is from: IOGEAR GUC2025H USB 2.0 to HDMI External Video Card
Pros: easy to set up
Cons: This is NOT an external video card as advertised. It is a usb-to-hdmi signal converter. I wanted to add a graphics card to send a discreet 720p signal to a small tv via HDMI cable, simultaneous with viewing our large 1080i TV in HD - same display, different resolutions. This device down-converts the signal to the large TV just like any cheaper signal splitter would. I'm returning it since it's useless to me.
Other Thoughts: Should be very specific that this is a signal converter not a "video card."READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Card works very well once installed.
Cons: The installation was horrendous. The drivers would not load and Win7 could not find the card. Assumed the PCI slot in the new motherboard was bad, replaced the board. Still wouldn't work. Replaced the tuner card, tried to install in the new board, still no luck. Tried downloading bios updates, chipset drivers, Hauppauge's own downloadable drivers and fixes to no avail. Finally gave up and took the machine to a PC repair shop. Their finding: Hauppauge's .ini file is addressing the wrong sub id# and the card would never have loaded without the technician manually changing the .ini file. Manufacturer's error, not mine...but it cost me $80 to fix their mistake, and I sent back a motherboard and tuner card that were probably not defective after all.
Other Thoughts: Hauppauge should address this immediately. Someone who has less computer experience would doubtless be even more befuddled than I was. The return rate on these cards must be enormous.READ FULL REVIEW
