5 out of 5 eggs UPDATE Rosewill 1800-Watt Induction Cooker 04/25/2014

This review is from: Rosewill 1800-Watt Induction Cooker with Stainless steel pot RHAI-13001

Pros: I have been using the Rosewill 1800-Watt Induction Cooker for over a month now and enjoy cooking on it even more. Cooking on an induction cooker has a learning curve. Some have stated that it discolors the stainless pot. Some have said it gets really hot. The clue to these problems are discolors and really hot. The two controls that correct this problem are temperature and timer.

If I want to heat up a cup of coffee, 1000 watts and set the TIMER for 2 minutes.

I use the 500 watt setting at start-up for 2 – 3 minutes then usually switch to the 300 watt setting, and set the TIMER for 5 – 12 minutes (depending on what I'm cooking). This setting works great for frying or sautéing eggs, burgers and fish.

I make chicken soup in a 16 quart kettle filled with 8 quarts of water. Set the TIMER for 15 – 20 minutes to boil the water at 1600 watts. Throw 3 or 4 leg quarters(usually frozen), veggies and spices set temperature to 1600 watts and TIMER for 10 minutes. Then reset temperature to 500 watts and set TIMER for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Please note, cooking times will vary depending on weight of cooked items and pots used.

One of the main reasons I wanted the Rosewill 1800-Watt Induction Cooker is the TIMER. My standard GE stove (with no TIMER) burns a lot of food and pots.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The price has gone up................

If you decide to change WATT MODE to TEMPERATURE MODE after setting MODE and TIMER and cooking starts, it will cancel the original WATT and TIMER and must be totally reset.

FOLLOWING ARE COMMENTS FROM “WRITE A REVIEW” THAT I THOUGHT I'D ANSWER

Comment.
There are very few temperature settings available on this product. For example, it is not possible to lightly boil water, it either has to be a rolling boil or not boil at all.
Answer.
Try adjusting the pot cover to one side to let steam off or remove the pot cover completely. I have 2 units and their operation is identical.

Comment;
Don't turn it on with an empty pan on top. I didn't find that in the included engineering booklet. I have burned and glued to the pan, stir fry vegetables, eggs.
Answer;
It is in the book> Safety Caution
11.Do not cook with an empty pan/pot. It is very dangerous and will cause unit malfunction.

Comment;
Magnets don't stick to real stainless steel.
Answer;
Wrong, there is NON-magnetic and magnetic stainless steel

Comment.
The on/off light blinks constantly when plugged in.
Answer;
What does it keep you awake.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: EXCELLENT

ECS A885GM-A2 (V1.1) AM3 AMD 880G SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: I have bought ECS motherboards in the past as a matter of fact I am running 2 of them now. The interesting thing is one is from 2003 the other from the late 90's. I have had other popular brand motherboards but they haven't lasted. One of my popular brand MB's died about 2 months ago so I decided to add another ECS since they have been so dependable. I bought the ECS A885GM-A2, AMD Phenom 11, Wintec 12g of memory and Cool Master CPU fan from Newegg. Got it all together and nothing. I called Newegg first just to advise them of the problem and they were great in logging the problem if I had a problem with ECS (note I had already mailed the USP label to ECS).

I gotta say ECS was fantastic. The ECS phone# listed on Neweggs's site was not an 800 number so I used my VOIP phone which was having a problem with a lot of line noise. The first tech I spoke with could hardly hear me through the line noise but I could hear him and he advised on what I should try. I did what the first tech instru

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I do want to extend my appreciation to Mitch, the unknown tech and ECS for their excellent support and excellent motherboards...............JAY
