This review is from: Intel Core i7-860 Lynnfield Quad-Core 2.8GHz LGA 1156 95W Processor BX80605I7860
Pros: This CPU performance very well. It is not the faster thing out there, but it is very very fast. The turbo mode works well for limited core apps. Additionally, it does not get that hot or sucks that much juice. Paired with a good cooler, you will have no issues with this CPU.
Other Thoughts: This is a good mid range CPU. I would not say it is a good choice for a high end gaming rig due to the PCI-e being on die and the limiting factor for the x16 PCI-e bus in multi GPU situations, but it is good for the mid price rigs with no SLI/Crossfiring. If you are looking at a high powered rig with multiple GPU's and the like, you may want to look at the Bloomfield chips, but don't let the dual channel (this proc) versus triple channel (Bloomfields) memory difference sway you. I have not seen any stats showing that making a difference in performance ... yet (6 cores cpus may push that kind of memory).READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Antec Nine Hundred Two Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Pros: This case is very pleasing to the eye, the blue leds are not over powering. The cooling on this is top notch, you will exchange the air quickly so nothing gets too hot. To top it all off, it is very quiet. All fans have manual speed controls. The front fans on the front, the top and back on the back top. I also like the cable management on the back panel. You can tuck everything behind the MOBO tray and it makes it very clean.
Cons: The fan controls for the top and back are tiny. It would have been nice to have these either on the front or have the switches larger and easy to feel. All fan inlets have filters on them, which is nice, but in order to get to them you need to take both side panels off and unscrew the drive cages. Not that big of a deal if you don't have to clean them so often, but if you are in a dusty room, it could become a real pain in the you know what.
Other Thoughts: I love this case. If you get it on sale you can get it for near a bill, which is well worth it. If Antec can address the filter and fan controller issues on the 904 (or whatever the next one is), they will have the perfect case.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-P55-UD6 LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: This board has a lit of nice features, the on-board sound is very good, the network ports have some very cool fail over features. I have had several Giga-Byte boards and have always been extremely happy. This is a good mid range board, maybe a little over kill on the features, but very nice.
Cons: Nothing yet.
Other Thoughts: Know what you are buying. Read the documents on the PCI-e x16 slot and how they work with SLI or Cross-fire. The board is good, but if you are looking to do a gaming rig, or SLI/Crossfiring video, you may want to look at the Bloomfield boards. The Bloomfield chips have some of the same price per dollar stats as the Lynnfields, but the underlying tech may make the a better choice for the monster gaming rig builds.READ FULL REVIEW
