Pros: Works on extremely low-demand USB items
Cons: Causes blips in connection to higher-demand USB items (e.g. Microphone, Gaming Keyboard, etc.)
Other Thoughts: I have a recording computer setup that connects with a Blue Yeti mic for our webcast. When the Blue Yeti mic is connected directly to the computer, it records fine. However, through this extension cable and connected to the same port, our recordings now have cut-outs, drops, etc. all over the place, making the last several attempts a complete waste of time. These work great with headphones, mice, and other low-demand items, but when connected to the Yeti and to a Gaming Keyboard, there were real throughput stalls that I could go without. Note that I have a high-end PSU connected with about 400W to spare at full run, so it's not likely a PSU issue.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Worked well for a year, convenient cheap unit for reading cards. I liked the extra USB port up front and used it quite a bit during its stead.
Cons: On a random boot, it shorted out for no apparent reason. No cards or devices were connected, fortunately. Even more fortunately, I was home and came back into the room to find it smelling like burnt plastic (and shut the computer off before any other damage could be done). Mobo is fine, computer is fine, but I don't like my stuff catching fire.
Other Thoughts: This looks fine mounted in the case, but I will likely be spending money on a reliable name-brand card reader. I thought a card reader would be fine in fund shortcutting, but it's really risky.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Reads CDs, DVDs without a hitch. Installation was simple plug-and-play to Motherboard (SATA) & PSU Cable, no driver issues. Speed isn't amazing, but it is what it is.
Cons: Other than slow speed, ALL the Reviews during my purchase said that this item came with Cyberlink PowerDVD 9, which I could have used to read Bluray discs. I contacted Customer Service, and they said that the reviewers were all wrong. So don't buy this unless it goes on sale with software, even if the site suggests that it does come with software.
Other Thoughts: Why not make another item listing on the site instead of changing a previously existing one? It's very misleading to have dozens of reviews praising the drive + software combo, only to have customers frustrated that it doesn't actually come with the software that all the reviewers were suggesting.READ FULL REVIEW
