WD TV Live Hub 1TB Media Center - WDBABZ0010BBK-NESN
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

4 out of 5 eggs easy to use and setup 07/23/2013

This review is from: WD TV Live Hub 1TB Media Center - WDBABZ0010BBK-NESN

Pros: 1 TB of storage

Cons: a little slow during navigation

Other Thoughts: I haven't done anything special with this little unit. It's connected to my network using a cable, not a wireless adapter. Win7 recognizes it as a networked drive so all I do is drag and drop files. There are plenty of services available on it, which I'm assuming is how they subsidize the price of the device. I haven't had any issues with the few services that I use(netflix, youtube, pandora, spotify). The unit worked out of the box and has an intuitive interface. No major complaints.

Pros: full keyboard with number pad(a must for assembly language programmers). Option for second hard drive. Decent performance for the price. Dedicated video card. 4 USB ports. Has a programmable button that will launch a selectable program....kinda nice.

Cons: had issues with recovering from sleep mode which seem to have remedied itself after windows updates. Bloatware. Slow boot even after bloatware was removed. 5400 rpm HDD.

Other Thoughts: boot time wasn't decreased by much even after bloatware was removed. I'm looking forward to plugging in a SSD for the OS and programs so i can save the HDD for all other files. I've read that i'll need to order a kit from Acer for connecting the second drive that includes a new cover for the cavity. Some have reported that the parts and shipping is free because they are considered "warranty parts." Once i try this I'll update this review.

Kensington Orbit K72337US Black Scroll Ring USB Wired Optical Trackball
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: comes with wrist supprt
scroll ring

Cons: only 2 button controls

Other Thoughts: This is a pretty nice track ball mouse. I like the scroll ring design and placement. There is no detent like most mice so fine scrolling is really easy. Which is handy for CAD software. For the price this is a great trackball. There is a rather large price difference between this model and the slim blade. It'd be nice if there was something in the middle that had a few more options.
