ASUS EN210 SILENT/DI/1GD3/V2(LP) GeForce 210 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Low Profile Ready Video Card
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: 5 stars for decent heatsink & chip for the low price. It's fast enough if you don't plan on gaming. Low-pro ready, comes with bracket. What more do you want in a simple add-in vid card?

Cons: If you do plan on gaming, this modest, fanless card will get hotter than Satan's toenails in a matter of minutes (without decent case airflow). Does okay without stagnant case air, but even Minecraft got it up to like 80 degrees Celcius in 5 minutes. Crazy.

Other Thoughts: Purchase intended to add HDMI & DVI to a VGA-only computer, and to allow better HD video playback performance. Not recommended for gaming, except casual if you plan on aiming a blower at it.

HP Desktop PC 8100 Intel Core i5 3.2GHz 8 GB 1TB HDD Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Solid, business model. Just as described. Works well out-of-box, comes with genuine Win7 pro & license sticker. Comes with decent mouse & keyboard!! Great bang/buck. Decent CPU, good hunk of RAM, 1 TB HDD.

Cons: Poor onboard video performance (lots of screen tearing during HD playback); need vid card for smooth playback, and for DVI/HDMI connectivity. Keyboard: non-standard Enter and Backslash keys drive me crazy, but KB is decent.

Business HP BIOS options will absolutely overwhelm you. Tread lightly.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded this immediately (as planned) with a new SSD and a PCIe graphics card. No WiFi adapter included: USB WiFi adapter used. i recommend buying a protection plan- still better than buying a new rig!

ASUS VN289H Black 28
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Gigantic. Gorgeous. Full-featured. Great color temperature out-of-the-box. Seems well made. VGA and DVI-HDMI cables included! Price is acceptable.

Cons: The stand is a bit wobbly when moved, but who cares? Most will sit still on a desk, or a nice big mount. I was upset to see the glossy LCD surface, but it didn't even bother me with daylight beaming in behind me.

This may be too big for you. Measure before buying (if you have space restrictions)! The shipping box is as long as my refrigerator is deep! (It's like 3 feet! Almost a meter long.) BIG.

Other Thoughts: 1920x1080 resolution, at 28 inches. Pretty good, especially at 4 feet away. I even turned up the DPI one notch in Windows 7.

I've had a few Asus displays. Probably Samsung or LG makes the LCD.
