Cooler Master Cosmos SE - Mid Tower Computer Case with High-End Water Cooling Support and Carrying Handles
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Modular EVERYTHING (see other thoughts). Ready for massive radiators and fans. Fits full ATX board and gear. Bottom-mounted PSU mandatory, excellent. Decent cable management, with lots of space behind the mobo tray. Toggle button for snazzy front lighting. Not bad for price.

Cons: A bit cramped at first. Side panel shape discourages lying on the side. It could do with a TINY bit more clearance inside, but it's already very large outside for a mid-size ATX case.

Other Thoughts: Gigantic video card (Zotax GeForce 970 GTX, 3-fan) didn't fit until I removed the middle drive bay wall. A couple screws out and POP, more room! Excellent air cooling gear, so I didn't use any liquid cooling (always room for that later on). A bit pricey for my taste, but not for the quality, and I'm a cheapskate.

ASUS GeForce 210 EN210 SILENT/DI/1GD3/V2(LP) 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Low Profile Ready Video Card
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: 5 stars for decent heatsink & chip for the low price. It's fast enough if you don't plan on gaming. Low-pro ready, comes with bracket. What more do you want in a simple add-in vid card?

Cons: If you do plan on gaming, this modest, fanless card will get hotter than Satan's toenails in a matter of minutes (without decent case airflow). Does okay without stagnant case air, but even Minecraft got it up to like 80 degrees Celcius in 5 minutes. Crazy.

Other Thoughts: Purchase intended to add HDMI & DVI to a VGA-only computer, and to allow better HD video playback performance. Not recommended for gaming, except casual if you plan on aiming a blower at it.

HP Desktop PC 8100 Intel Core i5 3.2GHz 8 GB 1TB HDD Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit

Pros: Solid, business model. Just as described. Works well out-of-box, comes with genuine Win7 pro & license sticker. Comes with decent mouse & keyboard!! Great bang/buck. Decent CPU, good hunk of RAM, 1 TB HDD.

Cons: Poor onboard video performance (lots of screen tearing during HD playback); need vid card for smooth playback, and for DVI/HDMI connectivity. Keyboard: non-standard Enter and Backslash keys drive me crazy, but KB is decent.

Business HP BIOS options will absolutely overwhelm you. Tread lightly.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded this immediately (as planned) with a new SSD and a PCIe graphics card. No WiFi adapter included: USB WiFi adapter used. i recommend buying a protection plan- still better than buying a new rig!
