Pros: fast and reliable
Other Thoughts: I have run Mushkin ER in the last machine I built over 5 years ago, and never a problem. I run FSX with all my machines and i never experienced what other flight simmers experience, stutters.. etc. I think the ram may have something to do with it. IDK ...
So when it came time to build another, I went back to what worked before.. Redline Enhance and low cas. Now they are on a Z87 Asus with a 4770k.. all 16gb reported correctly, once i activated XMP... these are really good sticks.
Pros: coming from a Q9450, I suppose it's an upgrade. lol
it's definitely faster then the Atari 800 I had with 48k ram.
I don't really understand why this 4770k can barely be OC'd further then my Q9450, percentage wise.
Cons: I don't think it will go to 5 ghz, or close to it.
FSX needs all the speed I can get. And I'm still not there.
Other Thoughts: It seems i build a new machine every five years. I run FSX alot, & do photography and sometimes video processing.
I put together what i think is a good machine. The 4770k, ASUS Expert, an Enermax air cooler, Mushkin Enhanced Redline (7) 16gb, Samsung pro 840 SSD, WD Black, Saphire 7950 Flex 3gb, ASUS DVD, Corsair 850 gold, full tower Thor V2, .. Asus's AI Suite iii, OC"d the processor in just a few mins to 4408mhz, it BSOD at 4500, .... it runs FSX at 4400 and the temps remain below 50c with the AI suite fan management. good stuff. !! If i run all fans at max, temps drop into the mid 40s at 4400mhz. I can live with that. But I still need a faster processor to max out all settings in FSX. But, I'm getting close. :)
Pros: easy installation
customer support is very good
hardware supplied to add a 2nd fan.
Cons: instructions are a little lame
Other Thoughts: mounted to a 4770k haswell
i'm running one fan on it now but plan to mount another for the push/pull affect
OC to 4400, running FSX temps remain between 44c and 52c under ASUS fan management. it's a good cooler.
