Pros: This card is mechanical - it clicks its way to life as you start up the computer. When you switch outputs it clicks, it gives you a feel of quality that you would not have with a regular sound card you could buy.
Plug a decent set of headphones into the jack and your ears will light up with music you have not heard before. Clarity is the word I would use to describe it, there is no coloration with the sound out of this card.
Cons: The software is pretty clunky, like it was designed in the late 1990s. Once you figure it out you can switch outputs and get groovy sounds, yo.
Other Thoughts: Do you need a card like this? Not really. Do you want a card like this? Yes, yes you do.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: ASUS E45M1-M PRO AMD E-450 APU AMD Hudson M1 Micro ATX Motherboard/CPU Combo
Pros: 5 Sata Ports in a small, low power form factor. Clean bios with easy options for power saving, performance and balanced.
Cons: Only problem is the onboard NIC isn't supported in FreeNas 8.
Other Thoughts: I looked at the SuperMicro boards and saw a lot of what I wanted, but then also saw this board with more expansion through PCI slots and went for this. Had to add an Intel PCI NIC, but since then the NAS has been running fine with no issues.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: While it worked it functioned well and provided the solid performance that I needed in a home built FreeNas server.
Seagate's RMA process is actually clean, efficient, and doesn't require you to call, email, or explain out a problem. I was happy to pay the 9.95 for a 2-day shipment on a replacement drive.
Cons: Out of the two drives that purchased, one failed after what was just a few weeks (total) of usage. Not much more to say but disappointed.
Other Thoughts: Since buying the drive, the server has been used sporadically due to lack of personal time to dedicate to it. When the server was on, the drives were only used for 3-4 hours a day. FreeNas would also turn off the drives after 60 minutes of inactivity, so there was little usage on the drive before it went down. Thankfully, they were working in a mirror pair and no data has been lost.
If the replacement drive has no problems I may come back and re-review this product. At this time I will give it two stars for failing so quickly.
