Mushkin Enhanced Ventura Pro 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model MKNUFDVP64GB
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: Good read/write speeds, when it works.

Cons: Very short lifespan. I've owned this for just over two years (purchased originally in March, 2013) and in that time, I've had three self destruct. The first one could be detected, but the data was inaccessible. The second and third simply died and would either not be detected by the PC, or would cause the computer to lock up when inserted into any USB port. The fourth unit died today and of course, it is now out of warranty.

Other Thoughts: I will never, ever purchase a Mushkin product again. I work in IT and would not recommend this brand to any of my clients. I'll stick with Kingston, Corsair, or Sandisk.

Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player (H2G2-42)

1 out of 5 eggs 3 Month Update 04/08/2015

This review is from: Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player (H2G2-42)

Pros: When it works, good for streaming.

Cons: Died after 3 months and Google tech support is designed to do one thing, prevent them from having to replace it.

Other Thoughts: It powers on and will show the "screen saver" images. However, once you try to stream an app to it, the Chromecast simply locks up and can no longer be detected by any device until a reboot is done by unplugging it. Called Google and after explaining to them all the troubleshooting I had already done including rebooting, factory reset, tested on a different TV, and even tested with a friend's phone to make sure it wasn't mine (I do it for a living so I know how to diagnose a defective product) but they insisted on "additional questions/steps." After an hour of listening to the guy do nothing but read his script, I finally told him I had enough. I was not going to do factory resets on my phone, router, and tablet to prove the problem was not with all three of those devices. He insisted that I had to do these things, plus make numerous changes to my phone, tablet, and router's WIFI setup, also to prove that the problem was not with my other devices. He also tried to blame "outside interference" for the problem, implying that someone outside my house was intentionally messing with the Chromecast. I know this thing is cheap, but Google needs to honor their warranty, not try to blame everything else I own and just admit that the thing is defective.

Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player (H2G2-42)

Pros: Does what it is designed to do. Let's me steam to my TV from YouTube, ESPN, or whatever else I want

Cons: If I leave it plugged in and switch to the cable, it creates interference on the TV. Have to unplug the USB cable in order to fix the problem.
