Pros: Wonderful ONVIF camera with excellent quality. I had video running in less than 10 minutes on 4 of their 3MP cameras. LOVE POE! One wire is the ONLY way to go!!
ONVIF camera and even default ONVIF setting pull up video right away.
Cons: I will agree that the documentation available for this product is less than one would expect.
Other Thoughts: If you are even half as technical as I am you should be fine. The reviewer from 3/8/14, there is no way their a level 5 tech having the issues there were, Works great recording to Synology NAS at HIGHER than 1080p, at 2048X1536 at 30fps. Night vision is always grainy with every night vision camera, and you should always expect to have decent video to about 1/3 to 1/2 the IR distance at night, as you can still see to 90ft, it's just not bright enough to be clear.READ FULL REVIEW
Easy to use and understand
Cons: None really. The trays are a little flimsy, but they aren't going to be removed even regularly, more like hardly ever, so it's really not an issue. And I also think they are designed to be light as this thing full of drives is HEAVY!
Other Thoughts: I have used multiple methods of backing things up in the past. Most stable for the last 7 years has been my own 8 HD raid 5 setup in a simple Win7 PC. When the array started failing recently I researched an All In One Solution, spoke with professionals, and determined that the Synology Systems was the way to go. Ever since I bought this I have been impressed around every corner. Rock solid and fast! Floods a gigabit network (100MB/sec) with ease!!! The add on applications make it even more appealing than just a well built and supported NAS. I have set up the ITUNES server, PLEX server for video/music/picture playback and management - AWESOME BTW!!. I am using Survielance Station and running 4 1080po IP cameras on it. You had to pay an additional $50 for each camera license past the first one, so I tested with 3 additional for now and have 4 recording at 1080p flawlessly with no CPU spike I can tell. Time to get more cameras and really test this thing! Installed 12 4TB drives and find that I'll have enough storage for years to come. 2 Drives were bad so I installed with 10 at first. Got two more and expanded the array in about 2 minutes to include the new disks. Great product to say the least. Thanks Synology!!READ FULL REVIEW
