This review is from: MOTOROLA SB5101U SURFboard Cable Modem USB and Ethernet 10/100Base-T DOCSIS 2.0
Pros: Owned a Motorola Surfboard for 8+ yrs with no issues (til now).
Cons: Displayed same symptoms as others... Works, then no connection, have to unplug to reset and will work for several hours before needing to be reset again. Still works as of this writing but will order a new one before it (and my internet driven life) completely dies.
Other Thoughts: My original unit made it through 2 house moves and then an office move to a different room. its started crapping out when I set it a small hutch cabinet and most likely overheated... felt warm/hot to the touch and now having issues. I recommend keeping it in a well ventilated area or in the open if possible.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Booted up without issue. noticeably faster with 4G vs 1G. less than $50 vs apple still wanting $200 (for DDR2 667 no less)
Other Thoughts: newegg description really only calls it out as 'laptop' memory... had to verify through newegg reviews that this would work on my iMac... it does. when it showed up, the packaging calls out imac, mini, and laptop.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: plug and play... came right up.
No memory issues for 1.5 yrs now with the original 512 sticks. I just added 2Gigs more...
Cons: I paid $113 for 1Gig 1.5 yrs ago.
Bought 2Gig more two weeks ago for $40
Less than 2 weeks later, its $38
not sure if this a Con or a Pro
Other Thoughts: My pc:
Intel M/B LGA 775 Intel G965 Express ATX
3 Gig DDR2 PC 800
XFX GeForce 8600 GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR3
Windows XP Media
Bone stock setup... I prefer this over my wifes iMac 24"
