This review is from: LG 60" Class (59.8" Diag.) 1080P 600 Hz Slim 3D Plasma TV with Smart TV 60PM6700
Pros: This has a crisp display that works well in my dedicated HT space.
Cons: Complete control over ambient light is importent to avoid reflections off the glossy screen.
Other Thoughts: The value for this TV is very high. I judge that it would take another $500-$600 to come close (not match) the image quality of this plasma TV in an LCD/LED.
For the cost conscious in an installation where ambient light can be controlled this is a good option.
For the cost conscious that have a usage profile not likely to burn-in the screen this is a good option.
For the cost conscious where image quality is the second most important parameter this is a good option.
Juggling the price differential between the same image quality in an LCD/LED and a plasma screen with the expected lifetimes likely makes the cost a wash.
That being said, I was able to get a higher quality image at a significantly lower price point that worked well for my application.
This review is from: Pioneer SC-1222-K 7.2-Channel Network Ready AV Receiver
Pros: Economically able to handle low impedance loads due to digital amplifier stage.
Online setup utility for attached device parameters is easy to use. Scope of adjustments are extensive.
Cons: HDCP pass thru is not always right on. Speaker connections are not ideal. Not a serious criticism as I know of no receiver that does this well.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Polk Audio RM510 5.1 CH High Performance Home Theater Speaker System
Pros: This system is compact and surrounds work OK in a bedroom sized home theatre.
Cons: Speaker wire connections do not accomodate 10 Gauge wire. Wall mounts only allow tilt adjustment in one axis.
Other Thoughts: My dedicated home theatre room is only 12x14 feet. I deployed this as an adjunct to a good Left-Right pair for a 7.1 system. The surround and subwoofer work OK in this venue, but the center channel is notably weak.READ FULL REVIEW
