Pros: Inexpensive, large external antenna. I plugged this into a desktop computer at home running Fedora 15. It was immediately recognized by the system. I connected to my wireless network and it came up without any problem.
Cons: Doesn't support N, but then, I didn't need N. I'm using this to ssh into a remote server via a wifi hotpoint that I use while on a commuter train.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: System was very easy to assemble. Dropped in a SATA drive and memory and the system was booted from a USB memory drive. Shipping and delivery from Newegg was outstanding--as usual.
Cons: Does not work with Fedora 14 or Ubuntu 10.10 out of the box. I did install Ubuntu 09.04 and did upgrades until I reached Ubuntu 10.10 with a newer kernel. At that point the system hangs on boot with an intel-agpart error. Linux 2.6.32 kernels work well with this system. Later kernels do not. Mepis 8.5 live CD works flawlessly.
Technical support from MSI said that this system is not supported under Linux. Rather disappointed with the MSI technical support.
Other Thoughts: Probably a good system for Windows 7. Linux support is limited. As a temporary solution I have kept the system running a 2.6.32 Linux kernel. This works fine with Ubuntu 10.10, but is not an ideal solution.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Rosewill RC-605 SATAII ExpressCard 2 x SATA
Pros: I used this with a Mac Book Pro that was manufactured in 2008 and Snow Leopard. Once, I downloaded the latest drivers from Rosewill, the card and external e-sata drive that I purchased worked flawlessly. This was a very fast setup.
Cons: Criticisms are not directed at Rosewill but at Silicon Image which provided the 3132 chipset for this card. No support for the sil3132 drivers under Fedora 14. Silicon Image does have a driver that is written for RHEL 4.x with a 2006 date. There is no source code for the driver and you cannot recompile it for a more modern version of RHEL/Fedora.
Other Thoughts: Gave the Rosewill e-sata expresscard and e-sata drive to my son who will use this with his MBP as a media server.READ FULL REVIEW
