They look good

EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Backplate Model M021-00-000008
EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Backplate Model M021-00-000008

Pros: looks good

Cons: Should've been included on the reference 680 for a slight cost increase, but hey what can you do. I would've paid a few extra, plus I would not have had to do the work.

Overall Review: The backplate looks nice and couple with the high flow bracket it really looks good. I don't think it helps cool the card though, but maybe provide a little support to keep it from sagging. I bought mine directly from EVGA as they were the only outfit selling them at the time. You need a T6 torx to remove the existing screws from the reference card. They supply you with the instructions to remove and replace. The screws have some light to medium loctite on the threads, but they come off with no problem. The replacement screws are phillip style and you need a 00 phillip head screwdriver. Two of the screws you don't need to removed, just look closely at the plate or set the backplate on the card to see which 2 don't need to be removed. Keep the old stuff just in case you need to return to EVGA for warranty.

Bad buzzing sound

COOLER MASTER R4-S2S-124K-GP Silent Case Fan (4-Pack)
COOLER MASTER R4-S2S-124K-GP Silent Case Fan (4-Pack)

Pros: The price. They seem to move some good amount of air, but.....

Cons: The fans are buzzing (all of them); the sound reminds me of a card in a spoke wheel, but at a much lower pitch. The cables are not that long either, but that seems to be the norm with CM fans.

Overall Review: I am using one as a side intake fan on one of my computers and it's noticeably louder than my other fans as it's making a buzzing sound. I thought I'd give them a try since the price was reasonable, but I will go ahead and order something else to replace it. I had plans to strap one inside my other case to help cool the gpus, but I will have to forgo those plans since they are buzzing. It would not be worth the cost to return them either.

Worth it's weight in gold

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: inexpensive Works Can OC CPU with it

Cons: Need a better fan

Overall Review: I used this on my i7 2600k cpu and was able to OC to 4.6ghz with no problem. Temps maxed in the mid 70s running Prime 95, but in the 60s during gaming. I changed the fan though. It does the job and I'd recommend it to those looking for an inexpensive, yet, well capable air cooling solution. Note: If you really want to get those temps down, then water cooling is the ticket.

Update to my original review

EVGA GeForce GTX 980 04G-P4-2986-KR 4GB FTW GAMING w/ACX 2.0, 26% Cooler and 36% Quieter Cooling Graphics Card
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 04G-P4-2986-KR 4GB FTW GAMING w/ACX 2.0, 26% Cooler and 36% Quieter Cooling Graphics Card

Pros: Overclocks with ease on air Runs my 2560x1600 monitor smoothly Customer service Lights up, which is pretty cool

Cons: Voltage locked at 1.2v No backplate

Overall Review: Update to my original review dated March 13, 2015. EVGA took care of the issue, no questions asked, so it deserved to be noticed. My original card crashed, crashed and crashed. I rma'd that card with EVGA and they cross shipped a new card and this card is waaaaaay better; it boosts to 1502MHz with ease and runs smoothly and no more crashing. Customer service took care of me and that's one of the main reasons I stayed with EVGA when I upgraded my gpu; customer service and quality products. The card runs really cool, too. It runs between 60-61* at a fan speed of 42% (BF3/4). Compared to my 680 reference cards, this card runs about 10* cooler, but at about 45% less fan speed and noise. I decided not to go SLI this go round and bought a single gpu that could run my 2560x1600 monitor and this card does it with ease. Just an FYI. One thing I noticed is the new card voltage is capped at 1.2v, where the original card was capped at 1.212v. I know there's been some grumbling about the voltage cap on the FTW cards, so I thought I throw that out there. Overall, I am a happy customer now. As a result, I have changed my star rating. Thanks EVGA. Now make a 980 Ti Hybrid card.

Better specs at a competitive price

G.SKILL TridentX Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-1866C8D-16GTX
G.SKILL TridentX Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-1866C8D-16GTX

Pros: Better specs at a competitive price when compare to the competitors Booted with no problems Lots of positive reviews

Cons: I wish they had an all black version. The price of these things doubled since I originally built my system

Overall Review: I'm slowing upgrading my build and decided to start with the memory. This RAM was competitively priced with Corsair Vengeance, but had better specs (8-9-9-24 vs 9-9-9-24), so I decided to go G.Skill this go round and I stepped up to 1866 from 1600. It seems that in each RAM category, G-Skills had better latency specs at about the same price. Also, the reviews were positive. I've noticed my programs open more snap with these combined with my updated SSD. I've already ordered a 2nd set for my rig. I installed them and it booted right up. I went into the BIOS and immediately set up the XMP profile and all is good. I'd recommend them to anyone if asked. Note: Corsair Vengenance are no slouch, however, at the same price, I was able to get better specs with G.SKill.

Dell UltraSharp U3011 30" Black IPS-Panel Height, Swivel Adjustable Widescreen LCD Monitor 370 cd/m2 DC 100,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: Large screen Beautiful resolution Easily color calibrated

Cons: Can get warm little power hungry

Overall Review: This screen has done well by me. It has great colors and is easily color calibrated. I use it for gaming and for editing photos. I don't notice any ghosting while gaming even though it only has 7ms response time. This coupled with my 2x 680s make gaming (settings maxed) so much more fun at this resolution. I mean games look so real. I'e enjoyed this monitor and don't plan to update anytime soon.
