Pros: Price, Bronze Certified, and all the cables I needed were attached to the unit already.
Cons: Coil Whine, Coil Whine, Coil Whine! This unit suffers from severe coil whine. My previous OCZ power supply never had any noise issues, and was a great unit, it unfortunately had outlived it's usefulness because of low wattage. This Rosewill unit was the logical choice moving up to a 1000W unit, mainly because of it's price point. However, I have not been satisfied.
I am a stickler for having a silent, or near silent machine. This unit produces the very common coil whine that many brands of power supplies are known for. When playing 3D applications, the whine becomes greater/louder. I have been in the IT industry for over 10 years, and troubleshooting is not new to me. After extensive testing, I powered down all devices but the power supply itself, and low and behold it was the source of the whine. Prior to this power supply's installation, my machine was virtually silent.
I attempted to live with the noise, because a quick Google search will tell you that coil whine in power supplies is not all that uncommon. Unfortunately, after using this unit for three days, the noise has brought me near the brink of insanity. When using my machine currently, I have to have another ambient noise to drown out the power supply. I finally could not take it anymore, and I submitted an RMA for the unit to receive a refund. I will be trying a different, slightly more expensive power supply.
Other Thoughts: LED fans are really outplayed in my opinion. The unit could do without one, or with a way to disable the LED.READ FULL REVIEW
