Pros: 2 TB Storage
Great warranty and replacement
Cons: THEY DIE!!! I bought two of these, set up RAID to mirror them. The #1 died after 4.5 months and was quickly replaced by #3 (#2 was still chugging along, keeping my data safe).
#3 then died then died 10 months later. During the 3 weeks when I was without the second drive, #2 died and I lost all my data.
Other Thoughts: I bought these knowing that the aptly nicknamed "Death Stars" are high-risk drives that are good bargains for the price. Thought I was mostly safe using mirrored RAID. I still think this okay to use but you better have stuff triply backed up, and at that point, you don't save any money when you have to buy so many of these drives. The warranty and replacement is great, but so far I have had drives die at 4.5 months, 10 months, and 15 month timepoints, which really speaks terribly to using them for any time at all past the warranty expiration.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Mapower AE31FU2G-01-H-1A-SF Aluminum 3.5" IDE USB 2.0 External Enclosure
Pros: I've had two of these enclosures with 320 GB Western Digital drives inside. They have both run perfectly for 2.5 years. They are just as quiet and fast and cool as the day I got them. Amazing.
Cons: Bright blue light- mildly annoying. It's hard to install the hard drive- have to jam it in slightly violently. After that, though, perfectly smooth sailing.
Other Thoughts: This is my second review of this product, but I thought it was important to go back after 2.5 years and let people know that this enclosure is still going strong. I'm thinking about buying another 3-4 just to have around. Plus, I have two of these enclosures, so I should be allowed to write two reviews, heh.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: CENTON moVex Black 4GB MP3 Player 4GBMP3-001
Pros: Small size (like your middle and fore fingers together), light weight, great headphones (they have a little cincher thing that slides up from the wire-splitting part that's good for keeping the earbuds from getting tangled when stored), holds a ton of music considering the price you pay. The price is the #1 pro- I got this so that I wouldn't be too bummed if I dropped it in the river while running. I got 20 hours of battery life on one AAA battery.
Cons: No armband, at least not at the time when I bought this. It's not too big a problem- it fits really well in your hand (or your pocket), but no armband is still just slightly annoying. But, who can really complain at this price. Also, the cap on the USB end comes all the way off (there's nothing holding it on to the mp3 player). It fits on the end very firmly, but I still imagine that one day it will fall off and be lost forever, and then I'll be running and sweating into the end of an uncapped USB stick. Hasn't happened in a month, though.
Other Thoughts: The controls are a little tricky but fine once you figure them out. I haven't figured out how to work with playlists on this thing, but there's probably a way to do it.READ FULL REVIEW
