Rapid mode makes it quantum fast.
Normally up to 540 MB/s read.
Rapid mode up to 3200 MB/s read. I think that SATA cable is saturated now.
Cons: what the critics say, what the techs say. Maybe you should read a bit before saying what you should and shouldn't do with solid states
Other Thoughts: 1.) don't believe anybody that tells you you shouldn't defrag. Windows sucks at this process. Defrag it and you'll pick up performance. This is the the 6th solid state i've worked on and performance has only gone UP with defraging.
2.) Rapid mode... wow. I thought getting 540+ mb/s was good, along with the 90000 mb/s for random. I enabled rapid mode, everything went up. I got 3200 Mb/s sequencial. A 600% increase. my random went 10,000.
3.) please read the SSD endurance articles. I've got 1.12 TB written to this thing and i have absolutely no worry about it's endurance. They've managed to write 1.5 petabytes and the Samsung 840 Pro series is still in the running. That's why i got this sucker. Even with my defraging and writing i think 20 GB a day, I don't have to worry about it dying any time soon.
They say 2 TB is the limit, or 20 TB is the limit.. if that were true, my last work computer would have showed signs of death as it was at 17 TB.
Pros: It does surprisingly well, considering how much of it's actually touching the FX-8350 cpu. I put my fingers on the aluminum bracket that sits ontop of the copper pipes, I only felt a luke warm temperature.
I haven't prime95ed it yet and done this, but it does remarkably well. At prime95 for a few minutes, 43 C is just about it's ceiling.
Cons: I wish that the surface contact area was a little larger.READ FULL REVIEW
