This review is from: ASUS RT-AC66R Dual-Band Wireless-AC1750 Gigabit Router –Asus Certified.
Pros: Bought Refurb Newegg via E-bay. Was worried based on earlier reviews, but received unit was clean and unmarked, and I had no issues with it - functioned 100%. Was able to install and get DD-WRT working. Follow instructions EXACTLY to do so - if you fail to wipe NVRAM a second time you will think the router WAN is broken, when it is actually just fine/a DD-WRT bug.
Cons: Not really a fan of the stock firmware, but since I use DD-WRT, didn't care
Other Thoughts: Can't speak to the longevity angle, but at least initially the refurb is working fine.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: 100% working out of the box. No bad sectors, no SMART errors. 100% clean after an HD Tune Write test of the entire drive. No weird vibrations. Basically at least initially this drive works and is not in any way DOA.
Cons: Newegg normally packages new OEM hard drives by wrapping in bubble wrap maybe 2 times around, taping, and then putting the wrapped HDD into a small box. That box then goes into a larger box with paper as padding. In the case of this refurb drive, there was only a small amount of bubble wrap (<1 time all the way around) and it was not taped together. Otherwise the same as new. Lucky it didn't get damaged in shipping.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: The other guy got the correct size drive - there is 64gb of flash, but only 32gb show up because they have massively overprovisioned. Drive working fine out of the box, tested 100% good through a Hard Disk Sentinel Read + Write test across the entire drive.
Cons: Software working ok for me but not actually updated for windows 8, so you have to install it in compatibility mode for windows 7READ FULL REVIEW
