This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-790FXTA-UD5 AM3 AMD 790FX 2 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
Pros: Gnerally works well in linux, with a couple of exceptions (see cons).
Cons: Suspend doesn't work in linux. Occasionally (one of 10 or so times) the board doesn't post, and have to power off/power back on. Assumed it was the power supply, but same problem only with this board when I swapped power supply with my other desktop. However, once it boots it's generally fine.
Other Thoughts: Works okay. Had it over a year. IOMMU not supported with this chipset (bummer), so the 2 nics might not be all that useful. At least not if you had planned to use the extra one for virutal machines.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: MSI 890FXA-GD70 AM3+ AMD 890FX 6 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
Pros: Good reliable board. Dual NICs. IOMMU works out of the box in fedora and ubuntu.
Cons: None. (Price?)
Other Thoughts: Had this board about 8 months with no problem so far. When my old linksys router died I set-up a debian (kvm) virtual machine to act as my firewall / gateway. With IOMMU was able to pass the outgoing (wan) to the vm. Works great.
IOMMU has to be supported in the bios as well as the chipset, and most motherboards with 890FX chipset don't support IOMMU even though the chipset supports it.
Pros: Works well for mythtv: Use the highest vdpau deinterlacers with no problem. Fanless. Temperature has not been a problem.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Works well for what I bought it for. My case has a few large, slow fans which are more than adequate to keep this card cool.READ FULL REVIEW
