TRENDnet TPL-406E Powerline AV500 Nano Adapter, up to 500Mbps
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

5 out of 5 eggs Better than expected 12/29/2014

This review is from: TRENDnet TPL-406E Powerline AV500 Nano Adapter, up to 500Mbps

Pros: Fast connection
plug and play
Works as advertised

Cons: Large, and doesn't have power passthrough so it kind of consumes a whole power outlet by itself.

Other Thoughts: I've always been a little skeptical about powerline adapters because of interference and possible issues with older homes and such, but i was pleasantly surprised to have no issues whatsoever with the one's I got. I was able to connect my home theater PC to my desktop, for Steam Home Streaming. I thought that the connection might not be reliable enough for it, but It works flawlessly. I'm very happy with my purchase.

SIIG USB2.0 to VGA Pro External Video Card Display extender JU-VG0012-S1
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: I've used other USB VGA adapters similar to this, and I have to say that although this is still not suitable for my needs, its definitely one of the better ones I've used.

Cons: Laggy and slow input. I wanted to use this to connect an additional monitor to my laptop in the office. It works, but its just too slow to use for anything other than simple operations. Simple things like dragging windows around the screen was just so slow for me that I had to return it.

Other Thoughts: For people who are not very sensitive to low framerates/ refresh rates this is probably a fantastic product, but it simply does not compare to a video card with multiple outputs. (I realize that may not be an option for someone using a laptop)

SYBA SD-EXP24010 ExpressCard 1x RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Card, 34mm, Realtek Chipset
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

4 out of 5 eggs Works but isn't perfect 12/29/2014

This review is from: SYBA SD-EXP24010 ExpressCard 1x RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Card, 34mm, Realtek Chipset

Pros: Gets the job done
Plug and play

Cons: Feels cheap, like it won't last
Small movements can sometimes cause it to disconnect, but this is not much of an issue if your laptop is sitting on the desk with external peripherals connected.
Connecting the ethernet cable sometimes causes it to click out (This is probably more of a flaw with expresscard not this product)

Other Thoughts: For the price this thing is great, and it allowed me to effortlessly add an additional ethernet port to a laptop which couldn't support it any other way.
