This review is from: SUPERMICRO MBD-X7SPA-HF-O Mini ITX Server Motherboard DDR2 667
Pros: VERY good board...if you don't plan on using for any length of time.
Cons: Has the relative operational life of a Mayfly...only lasted about 2 years When I spend $200 on a board, I expect it to last longer than 24 months.
Other Thoughts: I bought about six of these boards to use as firewalls for our parent company and sister companies. This unit lasted less than 2 years and simply died one day. No power hiccups (e.g. brown or blackouts, etc.). It simply stopped working. SuperMicro apprises there is nothing even close to the 3 year warranty NewEgg states these boards come with. Given their expensive price tag, I'm more than moderately disappointed. I have several $50 boards that are still going strong 3-5 years later, and they're also running 24x7. VERY, VER disappointed in the outcome here.
Being the Systems and Network Admin, I make the final decision on what we purchase...and what we don't. We will definitely be investing our money in different hardware to replace this unit and for future replacements when the other SuperMicro boards die (most likely) prematurely.
Too bad, really. It was a great little board while it lasted.
