Flawless

G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15Q-32GRK
G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15Q-32GRK

Pros: Works perfectly with my Asus X99-Deluxe in either 2133 or 2400 XMP modes. Trivially more expensive than the 2133 version of the chips. The only manufacturer right now offering a proper 32 GB quad kit with heatspreaders.

Cons: Nothing to report.

Overall Review: I've had some bad modules from G.SKILL in the past, but these ran through 6 passes of memtest86+ with no issues. The only other 32 GB DDR4 kits available right now are bare modules, or unknown brands, or both. G.SKILL put together a nice kit that is working perfectly. What's not to like?

Beautiful but poorly designed

LIAN LI PC-V351B Black Aluminum Micro ATX Desktop Computer Case
LIAN LI PC-V351B Black Aluminum Micro ATX Desktop Computer Case

Pros: Fairly good looking case. Very nicely machined and good overall quality.

Cons: Poorly designed. Difficult to work inside.

Overall Review: This Lian-Li case is one of the better looking mATX cases out there, and they have a well deserved reputation for quality so I thought I'd give it a shot. As expected the case is very solid and well built. Unfortunately that's about all it has going for it. I had the opportunity to build a machine inside this case back-to-back with a more traditional mATX mini tower sold here for nearly identical price. I was astounded at how much easier the tower was to build. The Lian-Li was a constant fight every step of the way, trying to slip cables through narrow gaps and routing things almost blindly. The removable motherboard tray is no help at all; after you're done building outside the case, the whole thing will immediately jam up on half a dozen stray cables. Astoundingly, the Lian-Li still manages to be unreasonably large and bulky while making life difficult. The desktop design means everything is jammed together at slightly odd angles, cables are crashing into other components, there's no room for cooling, and life is generally a mess. Yet the footprint is large, the case is quite heavy, and it isn't particularly shorter than a mini tower. In short, it gives you all the disadvantages of a small case and none of the advantages. Look elsewhere.

Don't settle for cheaper models.

BELTRONICS RX65 Red Radar / Laser Detector
BELTRONICS RX65 Red Radar / Laser Detector

Pros: Very, very close to zero falsing, and very high detection rates at very high distances. This is the real deal, people.

Cons: Shopping areas throw out a lot of K band radar, and without GPS this unit can't shut off at low speed or remember false alerts. Have to step up to the GX-65 for that.

Overall Review: Listen, I've tried several detectors and read a whole host of reviews. I tried cheaper ones that were ranked very well on the reputable detector review sites, and you simply should not buy those cheap models. They false so often that you eventually just tune out the alerts entirely. Those detectors are like having a passenger that yells randomly for you to slow down. The RX-65 actually gives you useful information.

Fantastic, but media keys are glitchy

Saitek PZ30AU 104 Normal Keys 4 Function Keys USB Wired Standard Eclipse Blue Backlit Keyboard
Saitek PZ30AU 104 Normal Keys 4 Function Keys USB Wired Standard Eclipse Blue Backlit Keyboard

Pros: This keyboard is great. The keys feel absolutely perfect, clicky without being too loud or quiet. The backlighting is awesome, and while it's not perfectly even, it's damned close. The lighting adjust is nice too, although honestly I just leave it on full bright all the time.

Cons: The media keys on this thing DO NOT WORK out of the box. Why not, I have no earthly idea. I had to get a third party custom driver to make them work correctly. They work fine now, but it was a pain to figure out what on earth was going on.

Overall Review: This thing is awesome -- IF you can find the driver that I'm using. I can't remember where I got it anymore, unfortunately, but if you search for media key problems with this keyboard, it should come up in one of the forums. I suggest finding that driver (it's just called EclipseDriver.zip) BEFORE buying this keyboard.

Works perfectly

Galaxy METAL GEAR Metal Gear Box II 3506UC-Black 3.5" Black IDE USB 2.0 External Enclosure
Galaxy METAL GEAR Metal Gear Box II 3506UC-Black 3.5" Black IDE USB 2.0 External Enclosure

Pros: It does exactly what you expect it to do. No fuss, no problems.

Cons: It's not active cooled, so heat might be a problem. Still, I have a Seagate Barracuda in it, which is a hot drive, and I've had no problems.
